Annual data were interpolated using Denton’s method. The data were also logarithmically transformed Population Resident population, i.e. all persons, regardless of citizenship, who have a permanent place of residence in the country. 1000s OECD Real effective exchange rate Weighted average of a country’s currency relative to an index or basket of other major currencies adjusted for variations in relative prices using unit labor costs in manufacturing (for Greece, we used HICP). The weights are determined by comparing the relative trade balances, in terms of one country’s currency, with each other country within the index.
