This figure shows how aggregate contract obligations compare to Government spending as defined in the National Income and Product Accounts (NIPAs). The left panel shows that total contract obligations are roughly equivalent to federal government purchases of intermediate goods and services plus gross investment. The right panel shows that contract obligations account for about 2 to 4 percent of GDP.
