    She was my grandmother!

Though the movie didn't portray our true family (only my mother and my aunt Dena)the story was excellent and I feel that it was good to give her credit. I never got to meet her because she died before i was born(my mother was pregnant with me during the cancer), but the stories of her really are amazing. She endured so much from her community as far as racism goes; she fought for so much and I am so proud to be her granddaughter. There are magazine articles, CNN has interview tapes... you name it- she was a woman who made her cause known- I'm so proud!Lynn Whitfield portrayed her well- and resembles her good too( she was a cross between her and Tina Turner-i think)... and if you pay attention to the court scenes you'll see my grandfather(the REAL Paul Jackson); they were 20 yrs apart and to my knowledge- no one loved her as much!

Lori Jackson is a magnificent hero. WOW!

I believe we cannot deny rights to anyone and still have rights for the rest of us. It is appalling to me that the hatred of the Ku KLux Klan is in existence. But it is. I am pleased that this movie is put on the screen to educate the rest of us as to this type of racial hatred. I applaud the directors of this film for portraying the human side of the persons who experience this kind of treatment. In my mind they are real heroes and deserve to be held up as real advocates, as this movie does. This movie drives that home in a very special way. In the courageous tenacity of women like Rosa Parks, Lori Jackson steps out as a champion of the downtrodden and stands tall and makes me proud to have witnessed her undying spirit to redress a grievous wrong. Thank you for the fine portrayal. I highly recommend viewing this film. It is an 11 in my book.

    Emotional, but overdone.

I had little knowledge of Lori Jackson before I saw the film, so it was a completely new story for me. I think that Lynn Whitfield did an excellent job and was effective at portraying a full range of emotions as Jackson. You want her to succeed just because she is so determined to right wrongs and bring errors to the attention of the public.

Unfortunately, some areas seemed overdone and far too melodramatic. Like the alternate ending of the film "Passionada" (Jason Isaacs, Sofia Milos), it is this melodrama that makes the difference between a film and a TV movie of the week. More subtlety is needed for this to rise to a higher level. However, it is worth watching on TV, or renting the DVD.
