    A new regime

Another season, another retrospective, at least this time they did progress the storyline in the process. The new characters were interesting and will hopefully shift the dynamic of the stargate program.

Leave Politics to the Real Life or Serious Films

Fans of sci-fi films or series expect to see adventures with aliens, outer space, invasion, and contact with new civilizations. In general, the storylines of "Stagate SG-1" satisfy the fans. But episodes like "Inauguration" are annoying filler and waste of time. The writers should leave the dirty politics to the real life or serious political film and never use in a sci-fi series. My vote is five.

    Clip show

I cannot stand clip show episodes. It's pure filler to pad the episode count, it's lazy, and a money-saving exercise.

"Inauguration" is a particularly egregious example because they have interspersed tiny bits of season arc story amongst the clips, which means you have to watch the whole episode.

Clip shows like this used to be common in TV before streaming. When bingewatching a series instead of viewing it syndicated one episode per week, it is aggravating.

There's only so much you can say about a clip show and I've said all that can be said because it was required in order to write a review.

    Decent Overview

Whenever SG1 is attacked by bureaucrats, it tends to go into eye-roll territory. So are plenty of the rehash episodes but this is more substantive, like in "Disclosure" because it actually serves a meaningful narrative purpose. There's a new President and it's somewhat interesting to see an honest actor process the existence of the Stargate program. Plus it almost seems to mock the premise of the protagonists falling victim to these cloak and dagger spooks who have inspired some of the worst episodes.

    • Trivia
As President Hayes is walking down the hall towards the Oval Office, on his first day, he stops to look at several historical busts. While looking at the last one, a bust of President John F. Kennedy, he bends down to take a long look at it and then stands up and adjusts his tie while looking at a mirror. William Devane played President Kennedy in The Missiles of October (1974).
    • Goofs
General Francis Maynard refers to Robert Kinsey as "Senator Kinsey". By this stage he is, of course, the Vice President and thus is no longer a Senator.
    • Quotes

Vice President Robert Kinsey: You can't possibly be taking their side.

President Hayes: I need time to absorb this, Bob.

Vice President Robert Kinsey: We may not have much time. The longer those people...

President Hayes: Relax. All I'm saying is, at the moment, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I need to know more.

Vice President Robert Kinsey: I think you know all you need to know, and that includes why you're here.

President Hayes: I'm here, Bob, because the people of this nation elected me to run their country, not the whole damn galaxy... and this is my office, Bob, not yours, no matter what you may think you did to make this happen, and don't you ever, for one second, forget that.
