Days of Future M.O.D.O.K.s!

I do! Hulu bring us more MODOK! The show has Easter eggs galore including one in the finale that is quite entertaining.

One of the last remaining holdovers from Marvel TV being a separate enterprise, "Marvel's M. O. D. O. K" arrived on Disney plus in the UK without much fanfare. I'm going to review this as if it's the first season of an ongoing show, but at the moment I'm not convinced that a second season is likely.

After a string of failures, supervillain MODOK (Patton Oswalt) is forced to sell his scientific criminal enterprise A. I. M to a rival tech company. Shorn of his power by a corporate system, and with a home life that's crumbling around him, MODOK sets about restoring himself to his former glories.

I'm going to be honest here, because I think it's key to my thoughts about the show. I only watched the finale, two days ago but already I'm struggling to remember much of anything about the series. I do remember that it improved over its run time, with the first couple of episodes being really shaky, but it does settle down a bit. Stoopid Buddy Stoodios is behind the animation, and it does feel very much in their "Robot Chicken" style, though it's a little more polished than that show was. The vocal cast are really good, particularly Oswalt, who appears to have a real passion for the character.

My problem with the show was, though it was fine, it never quite got above being mildly amusing. Maybe if it runs to a second season, then the writing might improve a bit (that's what I think happened with the most common comparison to the show, "Harley Quinn"). I fear though that the response might have been a bit too tepid, for a show that was on shaky ground to begin with.

AFTER I WATCHED THIS I DONT HAVE WHAT TO SAY BUT WE WANT S02 #MODOKS02. VERY GREAT BSHOW I WAS HAPPY TO BE PART OF THAT.
