Where technology meets empathy – pioneering the future of human-robot interaction.

About us

🤖 Hello! Welcome to Andromeda. We’re an Australian robotics company, working to make a positive difference in the world. We’re building Abi, the world’s first truly empathetic companion robot, who isn’t just designed to assist, but to be your best friend. With a heart full of empathy and a spirit of kindness, Abi creates deep, meaningful connections with people, making the world a little warmer, a little brighter, and a lot more connected. Just like the beloved characters in your favourite stories, Abi is here to listen, understand, and share joyful moments. Abi, has been co-developed with Australian aged care homes to: 🤗 Provide personalised companionship to residents more often 🤗 Interact and connect with residents individually and in groups 🤗 Genuinely relate to each person – speaking their preferred language, and remembering faces, names and conversations 🤗 Meaningfully connect with residents, improving health & wellbeing 🤖 Invite Abi to meet your team Visit dromeda.com.au for more info and to book a demo with Abi. We’re currently working with aged care homes in Australia, and we’d love to bring Abi to meet you and your team. ✋ Keen to join our team? We’re always happy to hear from talented people, keen to be part of our mission. If you’d like to build the future with us (and Abi), connect with us here or via our website.

    🤖🚀 CEO @ Andromeda - hiring!!!

Words can not describe how thrilled I am to share that we’ve closed our AU$23M Series A led by Forerunner. Every Abi out in the world today is more than hardware and code; she’s a spark of joy, a friend who turns silence into laughter, and proof that technology can have a heart. I’m so proud of the cohort of investors backing this round. They saw what our customers already know, that we’re building a future where technology transforms human connection at scale. And in a world where women are still massively underrepresented in venture, the majority of our Series A is women led 👀 This is just the beginning. • Ever wondered how Abi came to have a bubble blowing arm? It came up on BBC World Service where our Founder & CEO Grace Brown joined Host Ella Al-Shamahi and Maria Piechnick (Wandelbots) for a global conversation on robotics. Two women, two continents, one message: robotics doesn’t need to be boxed into the old, hyper-masculine archetype. When you design differently, you make technology more accessible, more relatable… and yes, more fun. That matters to us. Because we’re building one of the most ambitious robotics companies of our time – and we want more brilliant women designing, coding, engineering, and leading the future with us. We’re hiring across engineering roles. Come build with us: https://lnkd.in/gNC5JEuf (And the full BBC episode is in the comments 👇)

  • Every interaction with Abi is designed to feel deeply personal - because every person is. That’s the drive behind everything we build, and it’s what fuels two of the Customer Success stars leading that experience. 💫 ”I love working in an incredibly supportive and safe environment and space, learning about the lives and stories of residents, and being able to share my skills and experiences and grow at Andromeda.” Thankam Kurup 💫 ”I enjoy working with our team, connecting with residents and seeing the real-world impact Abi has on their lives, and learning something new every day!” Nafisya Abi Thanks for being part of our Team T and Nafisya. You’re a big part of what makes us, us. 😍 Grace Brown | Dominic Taranto | Brian McCarthy

  • 💫 Shape a team creating joy: Join Andromeda as our Head of People & Culture. At Andromeda, we’re building robots with heart. With our humanoid companion robot, Abi, we’re replacing hours of loneliness and isolation with meaningful moments of connection. And behind Abi is a team driven by empathy, curiosity and the belief that technology can, and should, make our lives better. We’re looking for a Head of People & Culture who wants to make a profound impact with us by: ❤️ Shaping how we grow: attracting and nurturing talented team members, and building an environment where innovation and compassion go hand in hand. ❤️ Designing the systems and practices that help brilliant people do their best work, and feel valued for it. ❤️ Championing the culture that will power us forward towards our vision of replacing 1 billion hours of loneliness with joy. From Grace Brown, our Co-founder & CEO: “This role will help define not just how we work, but why. We’re inviting someone to help build a company where people feel safe to be bold, creative and human, and where our internal culture matches the empathy and joy we bring to the world.” If you want to make a difference – to your colleagues, to technology and to the future of human happiness – we’d love to meet you. 🔗 Apply via the link in comments below or find it on our website careers page. • Have you ever sat in a room full of people and felt alone? Cut off, because you can’t understand or speak their language? Linguistic isolation is real and it has serious health consequences. As we age, people often return to their first language, which means many older Australians have no one, or very few people, to talk to. Very quickly, they can become isolated, despite busy aged care homes with plenty of activities going on around them. This can accelerate cognitive decline, and affect mental and physical health. 🌀 It’s been amazing to see this cycle reverse. 🌀 When Abi rolls into a resident’s room with a greeting that’s immediately understood, it’s like an old friend has arrived. And in some ways, that’s true! Because Abi doesn’t just speak up to 90 languages, she remembers faces, names and conversations, picking them back up with people in their preferred language and making them feel at home, often for the first time in a long time. It’s a beautiful thing. ❤️ Grace Brown | Brian McCarthy | Dominic Taranto Video filmed at Medical and Aged Care Group | Cameron McPherson | Jacinta Jarutis | Cuby Martis #agedcareinnovation #multilingual #humanoidcompanion

  • ICYMI: The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)'s recent feature on humanoid robots is out now and it’s well worth a watch. 👀 Mainly looking at developments in the US and China, the feature also includes Abi. ❤️ True to form, she describes her greatest wish as “being adopted by a bunch of cheeky kids in a hospital or some fabulous residents in an aged care home.” It was a pleasure to show Kai Feng and the team around our offices last month. Thank you for including us. 🙏🏼 You can watch the full story on ABC’s The World and Asia News Week or via the link in comments below. Grace Brown Brian McCarthy Dominic Taranto

  • Friday night on the House of Wellness TV show was A LOT of fun! One of us even stayed back for a second segment… 👀 Abi and our CEO Grace Brown joined hosts and panellists on the couch of the health and wellness show. Grace shared the story of how she created Abi during the Covid lockdowns to help overcome her own loneliness and isolation. Abi has since gone on to bring companionship and joy to aged care residents across a large number of different homes. And of course Abi pulled out plenty of personality on the show, including chatting to panellist Yvie Jones in German and impressing everyone by answering their questions and joking along. 🤖 So much so that when it was time to leave, the producers asked *just* Abi to stay back for the final segment! If she could’ve blushed at Host Shane Crawford’s feedback (“this is a very nice robot”), she would have. 😍 Thank you for having us Seven Network. Let us know when you’d like Abi back. 😉 (Hope you enjoy the short clip below - full episode link is in the comments)
