Many thanks to Francois Xavier Lefevre for highlighting in his recent L'Echo article the impact that the #ETS2 mechanism will have as of 2027 on households and businesses. This makes it clear once again how crucial it is to anticipate upcoming regulations and prepare the real estate sector for change. https://lnkd.in/evbTWXye

Building Europe’s sustainable future – together ! Following our official entry into the World Green Building Council, we are delighted to share that the Belgian Green Building Council is now part of the European Regional Network (ERN). Being part of the ERN is a major asset for us: 👉 It allows us to collaborate more closely with our neighboring European countries, exchanging knowledge and solutions to common challenges. 👉 It brings us closer to the European institutions, enabling us to anticipate upcoming regulations. 👉 It empowers us to provide feedback from the field, helping shape pragmatic and effective regulations for the built environment. At BGBC, we are committed to playing a proactive role within the ERN – bridging Belgium’s voice with the broader European agenda for a climate-neutral and resilient built environment. Laura Pallares, we are looking forward to work with you and your team ! #WorldGBC #ERN #BelgianGreenBuildingCouncil #GreenTransition #EuropeanCollaboration #SustainableBuildings

We warmly recommend this event and congratulates our member Julie Willem from Atenor for her participation in such an important discussion on climate resilience and insurance. We will be attentive to the outcomes of these discussions and make sure to integrate them into the work of our upcoming Task Forces.
#Climat #Assurance #ChangementClimatique #Résilience #TransitionÉcologique Sia Charles Robert Sandrine Umuhire Fran Dedeurwaerder Etienne Ranwez Daan Jennes Alice Lefebvre

This week, we had the pleasure of joining a site visit organized by Spi | Agence de développement territorial pour la province de Liège at the Galère building in Chaudfontaine (near Liège). The visit offered a hands-on demonstration of the challenges and opportunities linked to #circularity in construction. A few key takeaways stood out: ➡️ Even for a general contractor, ensuring reuse and revalorisation of materials is complex: finding buyers, managing logistics, aligning dismantling competences (different from traditional construction), and handling planning constraints remain real challenges. ➡️ At the same time, Galère made remarkable efforts to identify recycling and reuse pathways. From testing new solutions to exploring partnerships, their team demonstrated a strong willingness to push circularity forward in practice—an approach that deserves recognition. Several solutions mentioned during the visit involved BGBC members such as PPG Sigma Coatings and Knauf , showing how innovation from material producers can help accelerate change. When it comes to circularity, preserving existing structures carries the most impact by far—much more than the effort to recover individual materials. Yet, structural issues or functional constraints (such as ceiling heights) often make this option difficult. These insights confirm one of our BGBC Task Force priorities: the urgent need to industrialize circular solutions by fostering vertical integration with material producers. Only then can we scale beyond pilot projects. A warm thank you to Anne-Sophie Hallet and her team at Galère for the inspiring introduction and for leading by example with their concrete actions towards circularity.
