Sabato Magazine, the weekend magazine of De Tijd and L'Echo, is putting designers in the spotlight this autumn with the launch of its own design awards: the Sabato Design Awards. ‘We want to give extra visibility to designers who dare to challenge the design field,’ says Gerda Ackaert, creative director of Sabato. What happens when you bring together a diverse group of citizens to help shape the future of the museum? During two intensive weekends, participants explored key themes like accessibility, relevance, hospitality and local engagement. The result is a visually compelling and thought-provoking magazine filled with concrete ideas and actionable recommendations, each one an open invitation for the museum to do more and mean more. On Wednesday 25 June, the final report was officially handed over to the museum. Design Museum Gent is a partner in a new research project on housing and design exhibitions in Belgium, with a particular focus on Interieur Kortrijk. The project, initiated by one of our colleagues in collaboration with KU Leuven, has received funding from the FWO. We are looking for a PhD candidate to start at the Faculty of Architecture at KU Leuven in October 2025.
