Strengthening EU’s strategic autonomy is one of our key priorities. 🇪🇺 How are we doing it? By delivering concrete recommendations on reindustrialisation, innovation, and sustainable resource use, helping the Union reduce dependency and boost resilience. We are exploring how to support emerging technologies like sodium batteries, often overlooked in favour of lithium, and highlighting the potential of permanent materials. These steps are vital to improve our competitiveness, sustainability, and long-term autonomy. Learn more about our work: europa.eu/!TKPb69 #StrategicAutonomy #EESCinAction #EUCivilSociety

We are the #EUCivilSociety assembly, giving a voice to NGO's, employers and worker's associations across the EU.
About us
We are a consultative body that represents Europe's socio-occupational interest groups and other civil society organisations and gives them a forum to express their points of view on EU issues. Our 329 members work on a wide range of issues, and their 'opinions' on EU laws and proposals advise the other institutions, namely the European Parliament, Council and Commission.

The growing demand of pets has boosted the trade in dogs and cats, sometimes at the expense of animal welfare. On International Dog Day, we welcome the European Parliament's call for mandatory microchipping and registration of all dogs and cats in the EU. We have long stressed that proper identification and registration systems are key. They help: 🐕 fight illegal trade; 🐕 trace animal's origin and health; 🐕 monitor cross-border movement. What is next? The European Parliament will enter negotiations with the Council of the EU to shape the final law. Read our full recommendations → europa.eu/!mkYX6x #InternationalDogDay #AnimalWelfare

Today, and every day, we #StandwithUkraine. 🕊️ 🇺🇦 On its Independence Day, we reaffirm our support for Ukraine's democratic path and express solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The EU’s decision to start accession negotiations with Ukraine, and the latest international efforts to end the war in the country, mark an important step towards our shared European future and the promotion of lasting peace. We call for continued unity and action and welcome the proposal to extend protection for people forced to leave Ukraine because of Russia’s war. Our call: europa.eu/!CcHDTY #Ukraine EU Delegation to Ukraine

How well is the EU listening to civil society? Our latest study mapping civil dialogue practices in the EU institutions identified 43 practices, revealing both progress and persistent gaps. Key findings: ✅ civil dialogue practices have increased; ❌ lack of harmonisation and standards on civil dialogue across EU institutions; 🔴 perceived competition between civil dialogue, direct democracy, and elected representation. We recommend that the EU takes coordinated, concrete actions to strengthen civil dialogue by establishing an inter-institutional agreement, addressing capacity gaps, reporting regularly on outcomes, and designating clear contact points within institutions. Where is the world's largest cycle route network? In Europe! 🇪🇺 EuroVelo is a cycle network of 90,000 kilometres and 17 long-distance routes connecting people and places across Europe. 🚲 Cycling has many advantages, and we insist on the need for good infrastructure across Europe. We have also underlined our strong commitment to cycling as a healthy and climate-friendly mode of transport in several opinions, and more → europa.eu/!cY6RMg 🇺🇦 The EuroVelo network connects countries across Europe, including Ukraine. While the route exists on the map, due to the ongoing war it is not currently safe to cycle in Ukraine. We stand with the Ukrainian people and look forward to a time when the route can be safe again. ℹ️ Due to border crossing and travel restrictions in place, we discourage cyclists from entering Russia at the moment. 📷 © EuroVelo #Eurovelo European Cyclists' Federation
