🛒 Each year, billions of parcels enter the EU. Too many of them contain products that are unsafe, non-compliant, or harmful to the environment. 💡 The issue stems from a regulatory gap: online marketplaces are still not recognised as economic operators under EU law. This allows third-country sellers to use these platforms as gateways into the EU market without bearing legal responsibility for the products they sell. With online shopping expanding at an unprecedented pace, this loophole poses growing risks. 📄 TIC Council has released “Energy Transition Commodities: Used Cooking Oil,” a White Paper on the crucial role of traceability and verification in the fast-growing sustainable fuels market. With Used Cooking Oil (#UCO) increasingly used in renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, and bio-based chemicals, the paper highlights key risks in the UCO value chain—such as fraud, mislabelling, and certification gaps—and calls for stronger, harmonised regulations worldwide. Today, at the 6th #ChinaQualityConference in Nanjing, TIC Council Director General Hanane Taidi contributed to the Special Session on Quality Development and Collaboration in Global Industrial and Supply Chains. In her remarks, Hanane highlighted that while digital tools, #AI, and advanced testing methods accelerate growth, they must be anchored in strong, internationally recognised frameworks to maintain and strengthen #trust. Key priorities include: ✔ Investing in digital and AI-enabled Quality Infrastructure (#QI) to ensure trust keeps pace with technology ✔ Promoting international interoperability and mutual recognition of standards to reduce barriers and strengthen resilience During the event, Hanane also took part in an interview addressing the digital transformation of QI, where she shared perspectives on how the Testing, Inspection and Certification (#TIC) sector is evolving into a more technology-driven industry, supporting the "New Quality Productive Forces" framework. TIC Council thanks the organisers for the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue on the future of quality development and cooperation.

This morning, Director General Hanane Taidi, together with Min Xu, Executive Director of TIC Council China, visited Sunchine Inspection Sunchine Quality Control Technology Service Co.,Ltd. in Nanjing and met with General Manager Mr. Yi Shi and his team. Founded in 2007, Sunchine Inspection is a one-stop international inspection provider with 30+ technical advisors and 120+ full-time inspectors across Asia and Europe. During the visit, Mr. Shi shared insights on the company’s current key initiatives, and discussions also explored future vision and strategic opportunities. TIC Council China is pleased to have Sunchine Inspection as part of its community and looks forward to continuing to work hand in hand to foster #trust, #safety, and #innovation worldwide.

TIC Council India engages with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (#DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on strengthening trade facilitation.   Yesterday, TIC Council India had the privilege of meeting with senior officials from DGFT, including Shri ajay bhadoo, Additional Secretary & Director General; Shri Abhinav Gupta, Additional Director General; Shri Arjun Upadhya, Head, Centre for New and Emerging Systems for Trade & Deputy Director General; and Shri Md. Moin Afaque, Joint Director General.   The discussions were very encouraging and forward-looking, with a strong interest from DGFT in exploring how the #TIC sector can support pre-shipment inspection, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and the harmonisation of conformity assessment frameworks to facilitate smoother adoption and enhance export trade across industries.
