Meet Becky, a Teck employee and the Senior Personnel Assistant for the Community Reporter Program at Red Dog Operations, who's helping to foster transparency and respect for Iñupiaq traditions. Through the Community Reporter Program, Teck works with dedicated local reporters from Noatak and Kivalina like Becky to support shared interests in environmental stewardship, with a focus on the caribou population. The reporters observe activities on-site, document their findings and share reports with local councils to ensure responsible practices.

How does zinc contribute to a low-carbon economy? Zinc is essential for renewable energy technologies. Offshore wind turbines require zinc coatings to withstand harsh conditions. Solar panels also need zinc coatings to prevent rust and extend their lifespan. Zinc is making its mark in energy storage too - it works well in cold weather and offers easier end-of-life recycling. As Canada’s critical minerals champion, we’re producing metals that help protect our energy future. https://ow.ly/BZTe50WJKsX #EconomicGrowth #CriticalMinerals

#FunFact Meet the Bertram Bull Lathe, one of the oldest pieces of equipment at Teck Trail Operations. The lathe was produced in the early 1920s by John Bertram and Sons, a Canadian pioneer in machine tools manufacturing. Lathes are used to create symmetrical objects like ball mills, ring gears and tires at TRO – and this one is still operational after more than 100 years!

How does copper drive the clean energy transition? Copper’s exceptional conductivity makes it indispensable for efficient, low-carbon energy technologies. As demand for copper grows across wind, solar and electric vehicles, and across the power grid to fuel AI, Teck is working to increase copper production to help meet the world’s growing need. https://ow.ly/5n4y50WIpH2 #EconomicGrowth #AIInfrastructure #CopperDemand

When floodwaters rose in a remote part of Alaska last fall, an Environmental Technical Supervisor at Red Dog Operations stepped in to help rescue a Kotzebue family from their remote fishing cabin. For his courage, Tristen was honoured by the American Red Cross with the Heroes Award for Transportation Safety, a recognition given to those who go above and beyond to save lives and make a lasting impact in their communities. We’re proud to celebrate Tristen for his role in getting the family to safety and for living our value of making sure everyone goes home safe and healthy every single day.
