👩‍💻✨Building Momentum for Women in Tech Across Manitoba Yesterday’s Winnipeg Tech Thursday featured Manitoba Women in Tech, who hosted a powerful discussion about how we can continue building a more inclusive and thriving tech ecosystem across our province. Hosted by Shaelynn Stimpson from Tech Manitoba and moderated by Teena L. from Media Manitoba, the panel brought together three leaders who are shaping the future of our province’s innovation ecosystem, including our CEO & President, Joelle Foster, Kelly Fournel of Tech Manitoba, and Louie Ghiz of New Media Manitoba. The panel dug into what progress really looks like, from creating equitable hiring practices to ensuring women have the support and pathways to grow into leadership roles. A few reflections that stood out: - Equity takes intention. Inclusion happens when leaders take action and hold space for honest conversation. -Small changes spark big results. Shifting hiring practices or removing barriers can open doors for more women to join and thrive in tech. - Manitoba has momentum. Collaboration, allyship, and community are fueling innovation across the Prairies. #Immigrants bring a wealth of skills and experiences to the Canadian labour market—but the path is far from straightforward. In a recent episode of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) Voices for Change podcast series, WES Managing Director, Canada, Shamira Madhany joined Preet Kiran S. and Maysa Hawwash to discuss what’s keeping immigrant talent from entering regulated professions and how we can build pathways to overcome barriers in the Canadian work force.
