Big ideas are easy. Making them real takes strategy. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our newly named Land Use Strategies team – where vision meets viability. Formerly known as "Planning & Placemaking", this evolution reflects the full scope of what we do: connecting the dots between planning, economics and strategy to shape real estate projects – from individual sites to entire portfolios. We lead with market intelligence, design efficiency, and innovative capital solutions to uncover highest and best use, improve operational performance, and help clients unlock value across assets. Further, our work aims to support sustainability goals and honour Indigenous perspectives to deliver plans that are resilient, inclusive, and economically sound. Great places deserve smart economics! We’re here to make sure the big ideas pencil out, and we’d love to help bring yours to life. Contact us to start the conversation. When we think of climate change we think in the broad strokes of sweeping catastrophes, and we often don't realize the slow erosion happening every day. Read Tonya Lagrasta's article to learn more about this type of degradation as well as some recommendations for future-proofing and building climate resilience in our buildings. #CRE #Sustainability #ClimateResilience
Chronically worse weather is damaging commercial real estate faster than ever before, and we need to be prepared, writes Colliers’ Global Head of Sustainability, Tonya Lagrasta. When we think about climate change and its impacts on buildings in Canada, we tend to focus on the big storms that cause havoc. Owners, property managers and insurers are highly attuned to the consequences of an ice storm, a fire, or a flood. It's equally important to prepare for, and manage, increased wear and tear on buildings caused by chronically intensified weather. Preventative maintenance and upgrades don't have to break the bank. It’s no secret that employers prioritize #productivity as a key driver of efficiency and revenue. What might be overlooked, however, is just how much the workspace itself influences those outcomes. Our Workplace Advisory team members Sarah Bramley and Shalisha Senkow explore this connection in their latest article below. #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceStrategy #WorkplaceAdvisory
The workplace has always played a role in how people perform at work. Today, productivity and hybrid work are front and centre in broader conversations about the office market and Canadian economy. As Sarah Bramley, Senior Vice President, and Shalisha Senkow, Vice President with Colliers' Workplace Advisory Group, highlight in their new article, organizations must account for the link between office strategy and productivity. As more companies call employees back to the office, it's time to recognize how a great workspace can bring out the best in people. A great initiative from Sarah Bramley: leading the conversation on such relevant topics like #RTO, #workplace and #workculture. From improving collaboration to creating flexible, productive environments, these discussions are key to finding solutions that truly work.
💡 Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of hosting a group of local #yyc #workplace and #facilities leaders for a round table discussion in our Colliers office. We had insightful conversations around all things #workplace, #RTO, #culture, and #changemanagement to share common challenges and best practices in our dynamic industry. 💡 I can't wait to convene again - 1 lunch hour was not enough, but it was an excellent start to what I hope will be an ongoing series! 💙 Thanks to Krista Lauridsen Cherie A. Rachel N. Denise Finlayson Cynthia (Ewanchyna) Tremblay CPHR and others for your time and insights. Colliers Strategy & Consulting | Canada

Randy Gladman, National Leader of our Development Advisory team, sat down with land use expert David Bronskill, Partner at Goodmans LLP to discuss the Ontario's newest pro-development legislation, Bill 17, and its impact on housing development in the province. Discover their insights in the article below. #RealEstateDevelopment #Ontario #Bill17 #DevelopmentAdvisory
Ontario’s newest pro-development legislation, Bill 17, the Protect Ontario by Building Faster and Smarter Act, 2025, was tabled by the Ford administration on May 12, 2025, and officially became law on June 5, 2025, when it received Royal Assent. The Province’s aim with this legislation is to streamline housing and infrastructure development by proposing major updates to the Development Charges Act, Planning Act, and Building Code. As with any new major legislation (and there have been a lot of new laws related to development in Ontario over the past few years), the impact of Bill 17 will be wide and deep. I sat down with David Bronskill, Partner in the Municipal and Land Development Group at Goodmans LLP, to discuss this new, major legislation and what real-life effects he believes it will have in helping get housing development in Ontario going again. https://lnkd.in/g223N6ki #RealEstateDevelopment #Toronto #Ontario Doug Ford #HousingSupplyCrisis Colliers Strategy & Consulting | Canada Urbanize Toronto #Bill17
