Stoicism as a modern philosophy is gaining momentum. When most people think of any philosophy, they might conjure images of old men with whiskered beards and argyle sweaters teaching classes in the foggy mists of rural England.
But not these days. These days there is traction with people of all ages scattered throughout the world, embracing the various philosophies available to them through a whole range of new channels (look up Stoicism on TikTok or Reels and see what you get) and modern mentors from sports stars to celebrity writers. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger digs Stoicism.
And now, more than ever, there appears to be a need for philosophical practices in order to help us handle life’s challenges. It’s not just the pandemic either — as the pressures of day-to-day life continue to grow, stress and anxiety levels are reaching all-time highs. It happened to me about 5 years ago and I was able to get ahead of the curve.
