Info
Little Green House has started with a dream: for children to become the happy, creative, free- and democratic-thinking citizens of tomorrow. We have built our childcare centre to make this dream come true. At Little Green House, we fully embrace the importance of the early years for a child’s development. We focus on nature, health and sustainability, and respond to the needs of changing multicultural societies and families. We are multilingual (English, French, German), like the environment that we live in. “It takes a village to raise a child.” We like this saying a lot and believe that in times where work and private lives are converging, are becoming less predictable and ever more mobile, this is truer than ever. In our childcare centres, we strive to be part of our families’ “village”. We have been around since 2011, welcoming children and families all over Switzerland, and partnering with family-friendly companies. Learn more about us by visiting www.littlegreenhouse.ch

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀: 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 “𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳” 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. At Little Green House, one of our favourite books is The Whole-Brain Child by Dr. Daniel Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson. It’s a science-based but highly practical guide to how children’s brains work and how adults can support their emotional development and self-regulation. Using accessible metaphors like the “upstairs brain” (logic, planning) and “downstairs brain” (emotion, impulse), it shows how young children need co-regulation before they can self-regulate. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 At Little Green House, we intentionally foster these brain-building moments through: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗼-𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 We help children calm down not by correcting their feelings, but by connecting. When we stay regulated, they can too. 𝟮. 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 Predictable daily routines help children build inner structure. When they know what comes next, they can manage transitions more easily. 𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Emotions can get big, but they don’t have to stay that way. After moments of upset, we help children talk through what happened, name their feelings, and repair connections. 𝟰. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 Through imaginary play, storytelling, and movement, children practice blending memory, emotion, language, and logic, all key to healthy integration. 🧠 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲? We wrote a short blog post about The Whole-Brain Child and how it connects to our work. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ejjYCc3S

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 “𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳” 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. This insightful article by the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA) explores how language is one of the most powerful forces in shaping a young child’s brain. It confirms what we experience every day at Little Green House: 💡 Language supports emotional regulation, memory, attention, and empathy 💡 Early interactions in a language-rich environment build stronger brain connections 💡 Human connection—not passive input—is key to true language mastery In short: language is not a subject we “teach” later. It is the foundation of thinking, feeling, and learning from the very beginning. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 At Little Green House, we create rich, multilingual, and emotionally connected language experiences from the start: 𝟭. 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 Children are immersed in different languages through everyday interactions, songs, and play. We live the languages, not just “teach” them. 𝟮. 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Language develops best in warm, trusting relationships. Our educators speak with children—not at them—inviting dialogue, curiosity, and joy. 𝟯. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 Whether baking bread, digging in the garden, or going for a walk—language is used to name, describe, and explore real experiences. 𝟰. 𝗔 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 We celebrate every child’s unique rhythm and cultural background, nurturing language with patience, joy, and respect. At Little Green House, language is brain food, community glue, and a daily celebration of connection. We highly recommend this article: https://lnkd.in/evP8amsn

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 “𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳” 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. We recently came across this excellent article by "Adam & Mila", which brings together key findings from developmental neuroscience. It beautifully confirms what guides our practice every day at Little Green House: 💡 90% of brain volume is formed by age 5 💡 Up to 1,000 new neural connections form every second 💡 Early experiences shape emotional regulation, learning, memory—and so much more In short: the early years matter immensely. They’re not a warm-up for “real” learning. They are the most powerful learning phase of life. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 At Little Green House, we treat language as nourishment for the brain—and the heart. Our concept includes: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 Children grow best in stable, trusting, joyful connections. Our educators offer warmth, continuity, and safety. 𝟮. 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 The brain develops through sensory and motor experiences. That’s why we go outdoors every day—in all seasons. 𝟯. 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲-𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 From infancy, children are immersed in multiple languages through stories, songs, and conversation. Language grows through repetition and real-life interaction. 𝟰. 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 We give children space and time to play, make choices, and follow their curiosity—because self-directed activity builds cognitive flexibility and confidence. Our educators are trained not only to care, but to observe, guide, and nurture each child with intention. They are, quite literally, building brains 🧠 🧠, day by day, experience by experience. We loved this article, it's thoughtful, practical, and science-based: https://lnkd.in/gUiWUNU

💡 AI in childcare? Absolutely. At Little Green House, we don’t just care for children – we build scalable, data-informed systems that make everyday life easier for families, educators, and managers. A huge thank you to Bodil Neuenschwander, who made us proud at the Les Petits Déj' des PME & Start-Up, showing that also in early childhood education, we can lead the way in using technology to work smarter and serve better. 📊 From predictive planning and team management to transparent communication with families – we’re connecting the dots in one seamless system. Efficient, adaptable, and designed for real people. 👏 Thank you to GENILEM , Centre Patronal, and all the speakers for this inspiring session – and to Vaud Economie for the thoughtful summary: “Anticiper et optimiser les données, même dans des domaines inattendus Utiliser la data pour gérer des crèches ?

🎧 𝗛𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗵𝘁’𝘀 𝘇𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗴𝗲: https://lnkd.in/edCiFVN6 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻: https://lnkd.in/e6KhzxYy 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗲: https://lead-wise.org/ 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻: https://lnkd.in/eu5yMXw4 𝗪𝗶𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆-𝗚𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗻 𝘇𝘄𝗲𝗶 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘇𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗻: https://lnkd.in/eAieyMbM 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗲 𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗺 𝗮𝘂𝗳? https://lnkd.in/e-tGX6E2

🎧 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭! At Little Green House, our monthly podcast brings together voices from our community - families, colleagues, and friends - for open conversations about education, culture, and life with little ones. Each episode is hosted by our founder, Barbara Lax. 💬 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 #16: 𝐅𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧 Where the tea’s black, the weather’s irrelevant, and the laughs keep coming. After a few years away, Fiona Pimpin is back at Little Green House—and we couldn’t be more thrilled. In this episode, she chats with Barbara about her journey from Waldorf schooling to early childhood education, what keeps her curious about multilingualism, and why trust and strong relationships are at the heart of her work with children, parents, and colleagues. She left after seven years to explore something new (a classic case of the seven-year itch!)—but some places stay with you. Maybe it’s the people. Maybe it’s the purpose. Or maybe it’s just the rare joy of working where black tea gets the respect it deserves. Either way: welcome back, Fiona. We missed you. 💚 🎙️ 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/eUNw6pyW

Little Green House hat dies direkt geteilt
Throughout my career, I’ve always considered myself incredibly lucky to have the support of my family, encouraging me to follow my dreams every step of the way. Choosing to become a parent (and being lucky enough to have children) while continuing to pursue a career is never an easy path. And doing so while living in a country thousands of kilometers away from your own family adds another layer of complexity. That’s when I discovered Little Green House - a place that truly understands the needs of working parents. As a new parent, there’s hardly any other decision where trust matters more than choosing your child’s first crèche. Little Green House offered just that: a supportive, reliable system that gave me peace of mind. Behind this mission is Barbara Lax, a powerhouse who built this brand with authenticity, empathy, and a clear vision. She’s not only created a trusted institution but also built a thriving business in Switzerland from scratch. Talking to her felt like being on a roller coaster—in the best possible way. We exchanged ideas, laughed, got excited, and completely lost track of time. Thank you so much, Barbara, for the kind invitation to be part of your series. It was truly a pleasure. 🥰
🎙️ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭-𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭! For the very first time, we’re handing the mic to one of our parents. 💚 In this special episode, Barbara interviews Müge Gabbott, MBA, BEng, an alumni parent of two children at Little Green House, to hear her story as both a dedicated mum and a successful professional. Müge talks about her journey from engineering to HR and organisational development, and shares what life is really like as an international working parent. From building trust and teamwork at work, to learning life lessons from your own trilingual kids, this conversation is full of warmth, wit, and insight. It’s a new perspective we’re thrilled to share: straight from the heart of our parent community. 🎧 Tune in now: https://lnkd.in/eKUN_Z4d
