A collection of 17 papers, this special issue published in Fractal and Fractional MDPI (ISSN 2504-3110) explores how fractional calculus can be crucial to modelling real-life problems. Fractional calculus offers more superior tools for addressing time-dependent effects than integer-order calculus, which forms the foundation of most mathematical systems. Guest edited by Dr. Rajarama Mohan Jena of C.V. Raman Global University and Prof. Dr. Snehashish Chakraverty of the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India. A new study published in the Open Access International Journal of Molecular Sciences MDPI by researchers from Fujita Health University shows how IntelliCage, a novel, non-invasive technology, can accurately detect schizophrenic behaviours in mouse models. The research highlights a range of key schizophrenic behaviors in mice treated with MK-801, a protein blocker used to stimulate schizophrenic symptoms in mice. Observed behaviors indicated behavioral deficits and impaired cognitive flexibility. This research provides a valuable insight into schizophrenic-like behaviours, enabling the further refinement of disease models. Importantly, it promotes the advancement of research for the development of pharmacological interventions and psychiatric treatment. Learn more ⬇️https://brnw.ch/21wViPT

Plant-based diets have gained immense popularity in the last decade. The rise in both vegetarianism and veganism includes the immense environmental implications and links to numerous health benefits. However, research has not previously clarified the impact of a plant-based diet on children. An editor’s choice systematic review published in Nutrients MDPI and cited by BBC Future explores the trends and health outcomes of implementing a plant-based diet in children of high-income settings. The authors offer a framework of dietary recommendations for children, aiming to improve the diet, health and safety for children globally. Retractions are an essential mechanism for safeguarding the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record. The primary goal of retractions is to alert readers to any serious flaws which has caused the body of work to be untrustworthy. Where flaws are detected, publishers should be immediately notified with any supporting evidence so that they can investigate and take further action. MDPI follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. Last month, we had the pleasure of meeting with four scholars at the University of Liverpool during their weekly team meeting and seminar. 🌟SBM for the journal Universe MDPI, Professor Alon Faraggi; 🌟Editor-in-Chief for Astronomy MDPI, Professor Ignatios Antoniadis; 🌟Senior Scientist at CNRS and Editor-in-Chief of The European Physical Journal, Professor Emilian Dudas; 🌟Founding Editor-in-Chief of LHEP and PHEP, Professor Shaaban Khalil. The meeting and seminar gave way to a lively discussion about the benefits of the open access publishing model, particularly the benefits it offers in the dissemination of research both now and for future researchers. MDPI UK wants to thank all four scholars for the beneficial meeting, and hopes to continue working with them more closely in the coming months. #MDPIUK #researchintegrity #openaccess

MDPI was proud to be the Gold-Tier Sponsor of the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research Symposium (FEGRS) 2025, hosted by the University of Alberta and held August 19-21. Sponsored by both MDPI engineering subjects, Engineering Multidisciplinary and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, this sponsorship represented a joint effort by the entirety of MDPI’s engineering portfolio to encourage the growth of the next generation of engineers while educating them on MDPI’s values and practices. We extend our sincere thanks to our representatives, Carlo Cunanan and Charlie Cai, for leading an engaging Scientific Publishing Workshop on the 19th of August, and for continuing these insightful conversations at MDPI’s booth during the Industry Mixer on the 21st of August. Furthermore, thank you and congratulations to the FEGRS UAlberta organizers and the University of Alberta for hosting another successful symposium and for their continued support of open access research. Events like FEGRS play an instrumental role in helping early-career academics publish their findings, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections. At MDPI, we are committed to supporting these initiatives, with the end goal of making crucial scientific information accessible to all through open access. 🌍 MDPI’s official event announcement: https://lnkd.in/g-h5iCZy Additional information on FEGRS: https://lnkd.in/gzhaJUFK #MDPI #FEGRS2025 #OpenAccess #MDPIMoments #UniversityofAlberta #Engineering #AcademicPublishing
