Ever tried counting 100 million plants, one at a time? 👀 Every year, our scientists analyze over 100 million corn seeds across thousands of trial plots to see how well they’re growing. It’s detailed work and incredibly time-consuming. So, we engineered an alternative way: the Plant Stand Analyzer (PSA), a vital machine making stand-counting easier. The PSA delivers faster and more precise data directly into our scientists’ hands—without the time-intensive work of a walk-by assessment of individual plants. This frees up our scientists’ time, allowing them to focus on the insights-driven work. 🙌 As Judd Maxwell, our North America Market Segment Lead, explains: “Having an accurate stand count allows Syngenta scientists to be far more precise in their evaluations of hybrids and varieties.” #AgTech #Agriculture #Innovation #Engineering

Meet Oddmund Hestvik, a lifelong “farmer of the sea” who has been harvesting algea off the coast of Norway for over 50 years. 🌊 Norwegian seafarers like Oddmund brave the harsh Arctic waters to cut Ascophyllum nodosum—a seaweed once used by their ancestors the Vikings to feed their livestock and enrich soils. Today, this humble kelp is powering a revolution in agriculture. Used in the development of biologicals—nature-inspired agricultural solutions—Ascophyllum nodosum helps: ✔️ Improve crop resilience to climate stress ✔️ Enhance soil health ✔️ Help crops thrive These innovations are helping farmers grow more sustainably and meet the challenges of modern food production. 💚 “It’s a fine life, a free life,” says Oddmund. From the rugged coasts of Norway to farms around the world, the story of seaweed is one of tradition, innovation, and sustainability. 🌱 Find out more about biologicals in the comments below 👇 #Sustainability #AgTech #Biologicals #Seaweed #Innovation #RegenerativeAgriculture #FarmToFuture

They came, they saw, they stank. 🪳 Meet the brown marmorated stink bug—a small insect with a big attitude (and an even bigger appetite). Originally a low-key pest in East Asia, it’s now an invasive global menace to fruits, veggies, and farmers’ sanity. In 2019 alone, Italy faced over €250 million in crop losses thanks to this pungent pest. Worldwide, its impact is in the $$ billions! How did it get to the West? It likely hitched a ride on a shipping container in the ’90s, landed in the U.S., liked what it saw, and brought the whole family. 💬 “There are many examples when invasive pests were not very destructive in their homeland, but as ‘tourists’ in a new environment they cause huge damage to the native crops,” says Damir Ivacic, our global technical manager. Swipe to learn more about the impact of this invasive species. 👇 #Agriculture #Pests #InvasiveSpecies #FoodSecurity
