Last week, the Instituto Salvadoreño de la Propiedad Intelectual - ISPI successfully completed a mediator training program supported by the Arbitration and Mediation Center as part of our co-administration collaboration program. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing institutional capacity and promoting effective alternative dispute resolution services around the world. As part of the training program, we were pleased to welcome Diego Pérez Bernal, whose contribution added substantial value, drawing on DINAPI Paraguay’s experience in Paraguay. Mr. Perez shared practical tips, real case examples, and experience-based insights into the operation and delivery of mediation services. His perspective helped translate principles into real-world practice, offering tools and perspectives that will support ISPI as it continues developing its mediation services. This activity was conducted within the framework of the WIPO Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) Project on "Implementing Alternative Dispute Resolution Services in Copyright Offices". El Salvador is one of the beneficiary countries under this project, which aims to develop ADR rules, strengthen national ADR frameworks, and support the implementation of WIPO AMC online case management tools to reinforce these services. More information about the CDIP project is available here: https://lnkd.in/dd8HixKG These collaborations highlight the growing momentum for building accessible and efficient mediation systems that benefit communities and institutions alike. 📸 Highlights from the training session below. Earlier this year, we announced that World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, along with the Internet Commerce Association brought together a diverse group of experts to conduct a review of the UDRP – the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy, ICANN's first Consensus Policy adopted in 1999 on the basis of WIPO recommendations. Following the publication of an Initial Report and robust public feedback, we are pleased to now share the Final Report of the WIPO-ICA UDRP Review Project Team. This Report captures the rich experience of those who regularly use the UDRP and provides clear direction to ICANN’s GNSO Council as it considers its future work charter to formally review the UDRP. The recommendations are the result of extensive conversations and a shared commitment to preserve the continued good utility of the UDRP. 🔗 To learn more please visit the dedicated website https://lnkd.in/eSExVYp3 or download a copy of the Report https://lnkd.in/eDJT6JSg or Executive Summary https://lnkd.in/eztu8JMV #wipo #wipoADR #UDRP #DisputeResolution #InternetDisputes #ICANN

Have you heard about the latest on trademark dispute resolution service in Peru? Indecopi Oficial and World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO have launched the “Distinctive Sign Conciliation Program”, a new initiative that puts dialogue and collaboration at the forefront of their intellectual property (IP) system. Through this partnership, WIPO's Co-Administration Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program has been successfully adapted to Peru’s local needs and combines international experience with knowledge of the national context. The first cases processed under the ADR Co-administration Program have shown concrete results: agreements reached in short times, consensual solutions and avoiding long administrative or judicial processes. An emblematic example was the recent case between two Trade Union Confederations of workers confronted by a trademark dispute. What do you get when you mix technology standards, IoT innovation, and commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue? The WIPO Mediation Pledge by SEP Holders to IoT SMEs: a new initiative where some standard-essential patent (SEP) holders have committed to offering WIPO Mediation before moving toward litigation in licensing disputes involving small and medium-sized enterprises that manufacture or sell IoT devices (IoT SMEs). Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, Qualcomm and Sisvel and are the first SEP holders to sign this Pledge. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center is pleased to host this new initiative, where for the first time, some SEP holders have pledged to prioritize mediation over court proceedings, making SEP dispute resolution more accessible, efficient, and cost-effective for IoT SMEs. Under the Pledge, the SEP holder will pay two-thirds of the mediator’s fee and administration fees in cases involving IoT SMEs. In recent years, more and more innovators and businesses have turned to the AMC to resolve SEP-FRAND licensing issues through #ADR, including more than 85 WIPO SEP mediation cases.
