Brazil✈️➡️ Germany: Working abroad at B. Braun After two and a half years at B. Braun Brazil, Hernane Junior relocated to Germany and joined the Group Sustainability team as Junior Project Manager. Here, he shares key insights from his international assignment. This is what he says about... 💻 Working as a Brazilian in Germany 💬 Adapting to a new culture is challenging, from adjusting to the weather to navigating a different corporate environment. Being part of a fast-evolving department and working on a strategic program added to the complexity. However, the support from colleagues made a significant difference. They welcomed me warmly, integrated me quickly and even without speaking German, I contribute to important decisions daily. 💥The Biggest Challenge 💬 I joined the Group Sustainability department part-time while still working at B. Braun Brazil. Balacing both jobs and handling buraucratic arrangements was challenging. Luckily, the Global Mobility team helped me with visa, accommodation, and basic German classes. The most challenging part, however, was sharing the news with my family and friends – but they encouraged me! 💡 The Biggest Takeaway 💬 Taking on an international assignment greatly contributes to your professional and personal development. Working with colleagues and project teams across departments and living in a new culture has been invaluable for gaining new perspectives. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗕. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 57 meters long, over 9 meters high, space for around 59,000 containers – the new Automated Miniload Warehouse (AMW) in Melsungen has officially gone into operation. 🚀 The new system is a major step in making logistics processes at B. Braun as efficient as possible, especially when it comes to streamlining storage and delivery of small items to the right assembly station. After sorting incoming parts into designated containers, the technology takes over: ✅ Containers are automatically stacked to save place, a shuttle lift transports them to their assigned storage location. ✅ When a part is needed, the system uses digital coordinates to locate and deliver it directly to the output station. ✅ Inventory levels in the AMW are managed via a Manufacturing Execution System, allowing warehouse requirements to be determined directly based on consumption in production. Reducing lead times, saving energy and freeing up capacity for more value-adding tasks, the Automated Miniload Warehouse delivers a substantial boost in B. First Taiwan, now Germany: Chew Chie Yeoh from Malaysia is already on her second International Assignment at B. Braun and currently works as Project Manager for Sustainability Reporting in Melsungen. Here is what she thinks about: 💻 Work Life in Malaysia, Taiwan & Germany: 💬 A good way to compare the three countries is through how directly problems are addressed. The western culture in Germany values direct and task-oriented problem solving. Colleagues talk about problems by saying what they need. In Taiwan, issues are often handled to avoid public confrontation. In Malaysia, I experienced both working styles depending on the scenario. 💥The Biggest Challenge: 💬 Transitioning between cultures can be challenging in the beginning. Apart from being open-minded and optimistic, one tip that I would like to share, is to give yourself some time to adapt. It is ok to feel out-of-place in the beginning, but it is important to observe and accept the changes. 💡The Biggest Takeaway: 💬 I enjoy taking on challenges—whether through hiking or exploring new topics at work—and I am curious about why certain processes, decisions, or initiatives are the way they are. The prospect of working in different local, regional and global contexts is the main reason why I take on International Assignments.
