Summer, sun, vacation time. Things are quieter in many offices right now, including ours. Nevertheless, we are continuing to drive forward important initiatives that will shape the future of the #maritime industry. One focus remains on underwater radiated noise, an important environmental issue. Our newly established Working Group 22 on Radiated Noise is actively contributing to the work of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and helping to define effective strategies for reducing noise pollution and protecting #marine #ecosystems. In parallel, we are supporting the IMO in developing a comprehensive Maritime #Digitalization Strategy. As digitalization and #autonomous shipping gain speed, we’re contributing our technical expertise to ensure this transformation is both safe and sustainable; empowering the industry to harness innovation without compromising reliability or compliance. Sustainability is also driving our work on alternative fuels. We are developing targeted training modules, especially focused on how new fuels interact with engine systems, to equip industry professionals with the knowledge needed for a cleaner energy transition. From propulsion innovation to Onboard Carbon Capture Systems (OCCS), we are addressing the #technologies that will define shipping’s next chapter. These efforts aren’t isolated - they are interconnected parts of a broader push to decarbonise and future-proof the maritime sector. As we anticipate a busy period following the summer, we recognise that there will be considerable challenges as well as opportunities. We are prepared to address them with diligence and commitment. Strengthening collaboration: CIMAC at IMO MSC After nearly a year being a NGO with consultative status at International Maritime Organization we had the honour to introduce ourselves to the distinguished Delegates at this week’s #MSC meeting. It was a privilege to present in main hall and engage with delegates throughout meaningful conversations during the sponsored lunch in the delegates lounge. We extend our appreciation to all delegates who approached the CIMAC team with questions and interest. Theater valuable exchanges provided an opportunity to showcase our working groups and highlight key technical contributions - Enabling a ship wide data eco system, digital twins and terminology on single electric motors. #CIMAC remains fully committed to its consultative partnership role and looks forward to continued collaboration with the IMO, its member states and NGOs and IGOs.
