Charlotte attended KotlinConf 2025 in Copenhagen - and yes, it was worth it. We chose Kotlin for its modern features, strong typing, and readable syntax - here is what the latest updates mean for us and engineers in EV Charging: - Ktor 3’s async I/O lets us handle thousands of concurrent charging authorizations in milliseconds, because every driver and every second counts. - The rich-errors preview brings the promise of explicit, clearer failure handling - essential when financial transactions are on the line. - Exposed 1.0 LTS gives improves database reliability in mission-critical transaction systems. - JetBrains’ Koog AI framework is looking like a glimpse of the future -imagine smart charging, predictive maintenance, dynamic pricing engines. Pretty exciting. What makes all of this relevant? As EV adoption soars, the backend demands aren’t theoretical - they’re real, and immediate. We need concurrency, resilience, and real-time intelligence. KotlinConf showed that the language is evolving in lockstep with infrastructure needs - and that’s exactly where we want to be.
