Who are the faces behind Tilla? This month, we welcomed a new member to the Tilla team: Rupert Grimes, our new Global Head of Sales. It’s great to have you, Rupert! 🎉 But let’s hear from him directly about what led him to Tilla, what drives him, and what he enjoys doing beyond the job. 👇🏼 🔎 Rupert, can you tell us about your work history and what led you to Tilla? “Over the past 12 years, I’ve worked across a range of commercial roles in the shipping industry and related shipping technologies. My experience spans both sizable enterprises and fast-moving start-ups, giving me a well-rounded view of how this space operates. What drew me to Tilla is its growing reputation as a true innovator in maritime-tech - combining a powerful, yet under-the-radar, product with the potential to reshape how global crew operations are managed. The alignment between my background and Tilla’s direction creates a unique opportunity for real impact.” 🖥️ What will you be working on with Tilla? “I will be working closely with the founders to steer the commercial direction of the business in the key global shipping hubs. My focus will be on strengthening the brand’s presence and positioning it as a leading name for impactful and efficient crew operations in the maritime industry.” 🚢 What interests you in particular about the shipping industry? “At its core, shipping is about people - crews, operations teams, port workers - trying to navigate a complex global system. I'm particularly interested in the ever-growing synergy between traditionally minded organisations and the urgent need to innovate, in new and exciting ways.” ✈️ What is your favourite travel destination and why? “Oman! A country that combines natural diversity - deserts, coast, forest, canyons, lagoons - with an ancient, charming, yet fast-moving culture. Being lesser known than other countries in the region adds to this charm, whilst being home to some of the warmest people and best food I have experienced. I would truly recommend!” 🌆 What is the most interesting city you have visited and why? “This would be Istanbul. The richness of culture spawning from its strategic location blends together in a way unlike any other. I find it fascinating how one moment you can be in a high street that wouldn’t feel out of place in a French city, and the next find yourself in a Middle Eastern-style market. This coming together of culture creates a vibrant, exciting place to visit.” ❓What else do you like to do? “Aside from extensive travel I keenly exercise, previously having become a qualified spin-cycling instructor. The core motivations were to combine a great way to build fitness, whilst honing the skills of communication, motivation and the bringing together of people from different backgrounds and abilities working towards a shared goal. I see huge synergies between these skills in a class with these skills in my everyday work.”

🌊 Today, we are celebrating the Day of the Seafarer. 🌊 This day is not only about recognising the hard work of seafarers, but also about highlighting issues that don’t always get the attention they deserve. This year’s theme — “My Harassment-Free Ship” — is a reminder that there can be no tolerance for harassment or discrimination at sea (or anywhere!). It is a call for tolerance, respect, and inclusion. In times like these, when those values are under so much pressure in so many areas around the world, this reminder is more important than ever. At Tilla, we fully stand behind this! Without seafarers, global shipping would come to a standstill — no technology, however advanced, could change that. Thanks to all seafarers for your dedication and hard work! #DayOfTheSeafarer

Welcome to the team, Miray Ece! Miray is Tilla’s new Head of Product. We’re so happy to have her on board! 🫶🏼🚢 But we’ll let her introduce herself in her own words: 🤔 Can you tell us a bit about your background, and what led you to Tilla, Miray? I've dedicated the past decade to the B2B SaaS realm across various European markets. My journey has been all about building and scaling complex, transformative solutions – from video streaming to digital verification, AI market research & social listening to HRTech – that have genuinely reshaped industries. What led me to Tilla was the opportunity to apply this experience to something truly impactful, where I could continue to build products that make a real difference for customers and the business. 💻 And what will you be working on at Tilla? My core mission is to ensure we're building the right products for both our customers and our business. This is truly a collaborative effort, involving seamless cross-functional teamwork with all internal teams and, crucially, direct engagement with our customers. It's about blending technology and design disciplines with a keen focus on solution crafting, bringing all these elements together to create impactful products and grow Tilla. 🌍 What is your favourite travel destination? And what’s the most interesting city you have visited so far? I absolutely adore Budapest – I've lost count of how many times I've visited. I actually called it home for three years, and it truly became a part of me. Spending the pandemic there gave me a unique chance to explore its stunning nature and truly connect with the city on a deeper level. It's a place that always feels like coming home. And Cairo is hands down one of the most interesting cities I've ever visited, primarily because of its incredible liveliness. The constant energy, the vibrant streets, and the rich history create an unforgettable experience. 🖊️ What do you like to do outside of work? Beyond product management, I'm an amateur writer and storyteller. For the past five months, I've been taking courses to hone my craft. The more I learn about storytelling, the more I realize its profound relevance in B2B product management. Whether it's framing projects, crafting a compelling roadmap narrative, or leveraging communication for influence, we're always telling stories. It's a powerful tool that I'm constantly developing and applying to my professional life.

🗺️ Tilla was on tour! (Well, at least part of the team) Last week, Aron Fejes, Justus Mahnke, and Marie McDonagh from our customer success team hit the road to visit the teams at John T. Essberger GmbH & Co KG, Stödig Ship Management Poland sp. z o.o., and Dohle Marine Services Europe Ltd. in Poland. Because nothing beats seeing our solution in action and in real life. That’s how we learn what really matters to our users and how we can keep making our platform better, smarter, and easier to use. But of course it's also genuinely nice to meet everybody in person! Especially when you have such fantastic partners as we do. Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll definitely be hitting the road again – for more stops, visits, coffees, questions, and idea exchanges with all the amazing people we’re lucky to work with. 🫶🏼 Thanks for having us Marcelina Orzażewska, Dominika Marta Warszawska, Paulina Bernacka, René Hogrefe, Katarzyna Sobańska, Gabriela Ksionek, Tomek Wojciechowski, Alina Lewandowska, Dorota Mrulewicz, Barbara Blawat – and Daria Kaluzna: A special thanks for the chocolate. How lovely was that!

🚢 Why partner with Tilla for your crew change management? We can persuade you with a lot of reasons. But isn't it better to let the people who use Tilla in their daily work answer this question? That's why we asked Erik W. Mohn, Director of Crewing, and Angelica Mejia, Crew Manager, at Stödig Ship Management, to share their experiences using Tilla for managing their crew changes. Since the fall of 2024, Erik and his team have been using Tilla for over 6,000 to 8,000 crew changes per year across all their fleet. The goal: smoother processes, lower costs, full transparency, and improved productivity for the crewing team. How did this work out? See for yourself!

More good news: Welcome, Wilson ASA 🎉 We are happy to announce that Wilson ASA, one of Europe’s largest short sea shipping operators, will manage crew changes across its 101-vessel fleet with Tilla! Wilson moves 13 million tonnes of dry cargo and conducts over 10,000 port calls per year. With a fleet that regularly calls at both major hubs and smaller ports across Europe, Wilson relies on crew change processes that are efficient, transparent, and adaptable to changing conditions. Tilla’s platform will help Wilson automate manual processes, reduce costs, and give their crewing teams full visibility into schedules, bookings, and third-party services. We’re very much looking forward to supporting Wilson’s digitisation journey, making crew changes faster, smarter, and more enjoyable along the way. Thanks to Bjørn Thore Seljelid and team for your trust, it’s great to work with you! 🚢
