On 16th and 17th September, Madrid hosted its annual AI Connect Con event, an opportunity to share knowledge, showcase innovation and value creation as well as build partnerships that turn AI into real value. As Dr. Suad Sejdovic explains, "At BASF we believe collaboration is the key to meaningful progress. That is why, this year, we jointly organized this event with the Clúster de Inteligencia Artificial de la Comunidad de Madrid, a cornerstone of the innovation ecosystem - fostering collaboration between government, industry and academia in our region.” In this sense, from BASF Digital Hub Madrid we are deeply grateful for the support and dedication of Miguel López-Valverde Argüeso. 💡 We had the chance to exchange, network and learn from different perspectives, first with the round table on ‘Innovation & Talent’, which resulted in meaningful debates with Jose Manuel Molina Lopez, Adrián Bertol, Juan Cumbrado, Dr. Suad Sejdovic.  🏥 To conclude, Xavier Tarrago Bonfill of PMO IT Office at HM Hospitals provided a keynote and real examples on the use of AI in the Medical sector in his Keynote: From neurons to AI. 🚀 New paper published: Generating approximate ground states of strongly correlated quantum many-body systems through quantum imaginary time evolution   The quantum computing team at BASF, together with teams from Bosch and TRUMPF, published a paper evaluating the Quantum Imaginary Time Evolution (QITE) algorithm as a promising approach for quantum computers.   Finding ground states in quantum many-body systems remains one of the most challenging problems in physics and chemistry, especially when strong correlations are involved. These challenges directly impact materials discovery and molecular design, which are critical for industrial innovation.   In the paper, QITE is benchmarked across various materials, including a simplified model of the magnetic material CrI₃ and the industrially relevant molecule Fe(III)-NTA. Key findings reveal that QITE can significantly improve accuracy for certain strongly correlated systems. This paper is a result of the collaboration in the QUTAC Material Science Working Group.

#DigitalHubKL had the privilege of mentoring students from Monash University through the TeaMWork virtual internship and mentoring program, which connects talented students from Monash University in Australia, Malaysia and the University of Warwick in the UK 🌍   The program brought together a diverse group of students who worked on real-life use cases. Over the course of one month, they conducted research, applied their data analytics skills, and developed a proposal and final presentation. This experience not only empowered these bright young minds to tackle practical scenarios but also enriched our understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives. We are committed to guiding and supporting the next generation while nurturing promising individuals in technology and the industry!🌟   We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Monash University for their collaboration on this initiative. On July 3rd and 4th, 26 colleagues from #DigitalHubKL had the opportunity to visit the BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Verbund site in Gebeng, Kuantan 🏭 This visit provided valuable insights into the plant's operations, allowing participants to engage with on-site team members, observe applications and devices, and discuss challenges and potential collaboration initiatives 🌟 The agenda included a tour of the labs, where attendees learned about key aspects such as sampling, quality control, operations monitoring, safety, and compliance. Exploring the plant and labs deepened their understanding of the operations and production processes.
