This can be\nparticularly useful for complex queries that you intend to use repeatedly, but\nany frequently used query benefits from being saved.\n\nAfter you [create a saved search](../guides/work-with-saved-search#create), it appears in the\n[left-hand navigation](/issue-tracker/concepts/left-nav-pane) under the **Saved searches** section. Unlike\n[hotlists](/issue-tracker/concepts/hotlists), saved searches are not static in their results. This means that\nyou don't add or remove issues from the saved search results yourself. Instead,\neach time you run a saved search, Issue Tracker returns the issues that meet the\nsearch criteria. Results of a saved search can change from moment to moment as\nissues change to match or no longer match the search criteria.\n| When you change a saved search, you must perform different steps depending on whether you want to [edit the title and\n| description](../guides/work-with-saved-search#edit) or [update the\n| search criteria](../guides/work-with-saved-search#update).\n\nIDs and naming\n\nSaved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups are uniquely identified by ID\nnumbers. You can find ID numbers by clicking the pencil or clipboard icon on the\ndetails page next to the resource name. As an alternative, if a resource is in\nthe left-hand navigation, you can access its ID number by selecting **Settings**\nin its drop-down menu.\n\nNames for saved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups don't need to be unique.\nFor example, two different users can create a saved search named \"My Saved\nSearch.\" One of these saved searches may have the ID number 63690 while the\nother has an ID number of 82451. If the same user creates or subscribes to\nresources with the same name, each resource appears in the left-hand navigation\nand it may be difficult to distinguish one from another. For this reason, you\nshould make names as unique as possible and avoid using generic names.\n\nModified saved searches\n\nIf you change the criteria of a saved search after you create it and then re-run\nit, Issue Tracker presents you with the option to re-save the search with the\nnew criteria. Click **Save** to update the saved search with the new criteria or\nclick **Discard changes** keep the saved search unchanged and re-run the search\nbased on the original criteria. You can also click **Back to normal search** to\nkeep the search results based on the new criteria. This does not update your\nsaved search.\n\nIf you modify a saved search and then go to the drop-down button in the search\nbar, you can save the modified search as a different saved search.\n\nYou must have **Admin** permission on the saved search to modify the search\nquery.\n| If you use the same name as your original search, a different saved search is still created. Both the original saved search and the new one appear in the left-hand navigation with the same name, which makes it difficult to differentiate between the two.\n\nFor other ways to organize issues into groups, see the [Grouped Issues page](/issue-tracker/concepts/grouped-issues)."]]
