“Being part of the Bevica Scholarship Programme helped me build a network of people who care about the same problem. I think the programme can actually change the educational landscape in Denmark to become more inclusive. Not tomorrow, but in the long term. ” says Louise Bøttcher, Lecturer DPU, Aarhus Universitet. Louise is one of the previous main-prize-winners of the last cycle of the Bevica Scholarship Programme. With her scholarship, she travelled to Stanford University in the U.S. to investigate how we can develop educational practices that include students with disabilities. During her visit at Stanford, she built a wide network and gained new insights into universal design for learning, which she plans to translate into a Danish context. Watch the video to learn more about her journey and findings: 👉https://lnkd.in/dmGWXsyA We are so proud to see how the Scholarship winners are turning their ideas into action and creating real impact. Soon, a new group of Scholarship alumni will begin their own journey. The winners of the 2025 programme will be announced on October 9 - join us in celebrating them at the Award Show. "I think it's so important what the Bevica Foundation does with this scholarship, because they rethought the whole training of Universal Design experts, and are bringing it out of the walls of education or university colleges. They brought it into the world." All the Bevica Scholarship project proposals have been handed in, and it's now up to the international jury to evaluate them. We caught up with Jasmien Herssens, inclusive designer, educator, architect, researcher, entrepreneur and member of the Bevica Scholarship Programme Jury, for a chat about the programme. Hear what she has to say about the impact of our Scholarship Programme in the video below 👇 Don't forget, the winners of the Bevica Scholarship Programme will be announced at our Award Show on October 9. 🎧 Tune in to Jos Boys’ Podcast Series on Universal Design 🎧 The architect, activist, and journalist Jos Boys was a guest professor at the Royal Danish Academy from 2022 to 2025. The professorship was part of Bevica Fonden´s partnership with the Academy, aiming to promote Universal Design and a more diverse view of the human body among design- and architecture students. The podcast series consists of three episodes that explore different ways of rethinking the concept of Universal Design. The series delves into ongoing collaborations and projects at the Royal Danish Academy on disability, accessibility, and inclusion. Research Director at the Bevica Foundation, Camilla Ryhl, participates as a guest in episode 1, which investigates how stereotypes about disability (and ability) limit approaches to designing for different bodies and minds. 📌 Listen to the podcast here: Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gp2HGi-G Spreaker: https://lnkd.in/eVaUBp7X

How is the human body represented in architecture? Throughout architectural history, the human body has often appeared as a statically balanced symmetrical figure - from Vitruvian Man to Le Corbusier’s Modulor. But what if we rethink that standard? In this article, René Sørensen Overby and Emil Falster explore how such bodily ideals have shaped architectural theory and why it’s time to move beyond them. Drawing on Universal Design, they argue for a more inclusive and dynamic understanding of bodies and abilities.
