🇩🇪 For our German-speaking friends and partners! How can we make climate and energy issues tangible? This was precisely the focus of the Innovation Challenge, in which the City of Dresden participated, using a creative format that utilised design thinking and co-creation. The open ideas competition brings together participants from different professional fields in mixed teams. Using agile methods, practical solutions and prototypes for current issues are developed in a short time. The City of Dresden and STESAD GmbH have submitted two challenges for the #NEUTRALPATH_eu project. From 26–28 August, Lyon hosted the European Climate Horizon (ECHO) 2030 Days, the closing event of the Scalable Cities initiative. Represented by CARTIF and ICONS Innovation Strategies, #NEUTRALPATH_eu joined the debate on the Energy Performance of Buildings: from renovating existing stock to higher standards in new constructions and the role of digitalisation. 🗣️ Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, Project Coordinator: "ECHO 2030 highlighted the critical role of lighthouse projects in developing scalable solutions. 🌍🍃 Zaragoza is moving towards #climateneutrality! Through the #NEUTRALPATH_eu project, Zaragoza City Council and Zaragoza Vivienda are leading the city’s transformation. In the Actur district, two buildings are being renovated to become models of efficiency: 🔹 upgraded building envelopes 🔹 integrated photovoltaic panels 🔹 energy monitoring for savings 🔹 improved comfort and accessibility for residents At the same time, four public facilities will integrate new energy production solutions. 📢 For our German-speaking friends and partners! On June 20, the #NEUTRALPATH_eu project was part of the 22nd Dresden Long Night of Science, one of the largest science events in the region, held under the motto "The Night That Makes You Smarter". 🧪🔬 Between 5 p.m. and midnight, Dresden's science scene opened its doors to interested citizens, families and experts. The NEUTRALPATH project participated with an information booth and hands-on activities at the Center for Energy Technology. From 26 to 28 August 2025, the Scalable Cities initiative will host the ECHO 2030 Days in Lyon, France, organised by Ville de Lyon and LYON CONFLUENCE. The event will bring together cities, project partners and EU stakeholders to reflect on more than ten years of work on scalable solutions for #climateneutral cities. The #NEUTRALPATH_eu project will be represented at the event, with the project coordinator Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo from CARTIF moderating sessions on behalf of both MAKING-CITY EU and NEUTRALPATH. Last month, our project joined a webinar organised by the Scalable Cities community and the PED Cluster: a space where several EU-funded projects came together to share idea on the creation of sustainable, people-centered energy districts in Europe. #NEUTRALPATH_eu was represented by Stefania Mascolo from Eurocities, who emphasised the need to look beyond technical solutions and focus on governance, social innovation, and local capacity building. 🌍🍃 At #EUSEW2025, Lorena Reula, Managing Director of Housing for Zaragoza, represented #NEUTRALPATH_eu in the session "Housing for Resilient Cities: Empowering Citizens for a Clean Energy Transition". She shared Zaragoza’s inclusive, community-driven model for energy-efficient housing, combining social engagement, peer-to-peer support and diverse financing tools. Through Next Generation EU and Horizon Europe, Zaragoza is also investing in district-level renovations in vulnerable neighbourhoods. 🏙️ The city is also piloting a Positive Clean Energy District under the NEUTRALPATH project.
