Emergence and Co-Creation: A Collective's Perspective on Investing for Systems Change
TWIST (Together We Invest for Systems Transformation) is a collective of investors, practitioners, and facilitators from around the world who are actively deploying capital and/or facilitating
processes for positive systems change.
This paper marks TWIST’s inaugural sharing of learnings gathered from the collective. Our intention in producing this document is to:

This paper marks TWIST’s inaugural sharing of learnings gathered from the collective. Our intention in producing this document is to:
• Summarise the factors driving the emergence of this approach to investing;
• Share our current understanding of what investing for systems change entails;
• Illuminate key traits of this approach through case studies contributed by our collective;
• Highlight how practitioners are currently engaging in investing for systems change;
• Identify key areas that warrant further exploration.
Today’s challenges require a collective systems approach. Whether investors take a systems approach or not, all investors are impacted by the dynamics of the systems within which they are investing. In this paper, we explore how investors might be able to improve outcomes at the systems level. We hope this
work will excite and inspire you to join us in this exploration.Otros autoresVer publicación -
Systems Change: An Emerging Practice in Impact Investing
Are investors with positive social and environmental impact goals fundamentally improving the very systems that produced the problems in the first place, or merely treating symptoms? How can these investors identify solutions that are likely to catalyse significant, long-term positive change, without triggering negative unintended consequences elsewhere in the targeted system?
Fuelled by such questions, impact investors are increasingly engaging in 'systems practice' to better understand…Are investors with positive social and environmental impact goals fundamentally improving the very systems that produced the problems in the first place, or merely treating symptoms? How can these investors identify solutions that are likely to catalyse significant, long-term positive change, without triggering negative unintended consequences elsewhere in the targeted system?
Fuelled by such questions, impact investors are increasingly engaging in 'systems practice' to better understand the underlying causes to social and environmental problems and to identify high leverage solutions to advance positive systems change. In this report, we highlight examples of how investors are engaging in this practice, whether in the area of women's and girls' reproductive rights, renewable energy, sustainable fashion, digital ID, regeneration of land or oceans.Otros autoresVer publicación -

The objective of this study is to build the business case for (institutional) investors to allocate more funding to benefit the landscape in emerging markets. The study also outlines roles that the government and non-profits can play to catalyse these types of investments, and provides practical examples of investment vehicles that adhere to the landscape approach for (new) investment managers and investors.Otros autoresVer publicación
