UAE’s Emirati women drive $16 billion economic impact

As the UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day, the nation reflects on the remarkable contributions of its female leaders, particularly in the economic sector. This annual occasion honors the legacy of women’s empowerment laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and showcases the vital role women continue to play in the UAE’s development across all domains.
Emirati women have firmly established themselves as key players in the economy, investing over $16 billion across national and private sectors. Their growing influence in business and investment demonstrates their competence, determination, and the strong support of the country’s leadership.
Hana Al Rostamani, Group CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank, stated, “The Emirati Women’s Day is a national occasion that underscores the nation’s pioneering achievements in the field of women’s empowerment, a legacy that has been established by the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan… Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, known as the ‘Mother of the Nation’, has pursued this approach through strategic initiatives designed to empower women and enhance their role in the process of development and progress.”
Dr. Shafika Al Ameri, Chairperson of the Emirates Entrepreneurship Association (EEA), emphasized the need for women to be active partners in national development, while Farida Abdullah Qambar Al Awadhi, Chairwoman of the Emirates Businesswomen Council, said, “On the Emirati Women’s Day, we must acknowledge the significant contributions of women in achieving remarkable achievements.”
Reed Hamad Al Dhaheri noted women’s role in sustainable development, and engineer Yusra Al Hashmi highlighted their presence in defence innovation, stating, “This ongoing effort serves to reinforce the UAE’s economic and defence capabilities.”
