Czech Republic’s first quantum computer is live: A milestone for IQM and Europe! In collaboration with the LUMI-Q consortium and EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), we are proud to launch the VLQ quantum computer for the Czech and European science community. The 24-qubit full-stack quantum computer, called VLQ, is housed in VSB - Technical University of Ostrava and connected to the EuroHPC petascale supercomputer Karolina. VLQ is based on IQM’s star-shaped quantum processing unit architecture, which provides unique connectivity between all qubits, significantly increasing the efficiency of quantum computations and distinguishing VLQ from competing systems. This star architecture is also the cornerstone of our technology roadmap towards fault-tolerant computing. The system will enable researchers to explore new algorithms and applications in areas such as quantum machine learning, drug and vaccine development, new material design, and transport optimisation, among others. VLQ will be accessible to researchers, companies, and the public sector across Europe by the end of 2025. Boosting Taiwan's quantum ecosystem! 📢 Today, IQM and Scientek Corporation announced a strategic reseller agreement to accelerate the commercialisation of quantum computing in Taiwan. The agreement follows the installation of IQM Spark, the first full-stack superconducting quantum computer at the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), 台灣半導體研究中心.
