(modifié)My first reaction (and now that I’ve sat with it a bit I back the initial impulse) is that I don’t. I understand it’s workplace dependent and being able to read what your colleagues need is a given, but in my workplaces and in my industry, I don’t modulate my approach to different “levels” because I believe it’s important to treat everyone like people first. Those senior to me also just have normal people lives, those junior to me do too. We’re all in a workplace working to the same goal so I firmly believe that I talk with seniors, peers and juniors in the same way. The subject matter changes, of course, and with my work friends I’ll be a lot more colloquial, but overall I think great communication and collaboration comes from being human.

To find common ground among stakeholders with conflicting opinions on copy revisions, start by actively listening to each party's concerns and goals. Clarify the objectives behind each suggestion to understand the reasoning and intent. Once you have a complete picture, identify any common themes or objectives shared by all stakeholders. From there, you can create a compromise that addresses key concerns while staying aligned with the overall brand voice and project goals. If necessary, provide data or examples that support your approach and demonstrate how it aligns with the desired outcomes. Collaboration and transparency will help ease tensions and keep the project on track.

To adjust your tone to different levels of employees, you need to first make sure that you address them differently. This is to show your respect and boundaries for each of them. For senior employees such as your superiors or bosses, you must always show your respect to them. Address them by their positions and titles instead of just their name. For those on the same level as you or are junior employees, you could be more casual and relaxed with them. This is to make them feel that you are just being one of them. This is especially for the junior ones.

Why should my tone change becasue of an employee's designation? I would use professional and respectful tone for everyone, be it my superiors or subordinates. Period.

- Use formal language when addressing senior leadership to show respect. - Adapt a collaborative tone with peers to foster teamwork. - Offer clarity and guidance to junior employees while remaining approachable. - Prioritize active listening and empathy at all levels. - Tailor your communication style to match the audience's preferences and expectations. - Use feedback to refine your tone and messaging for different groups.

-> Speak their language, not yours Tailor your tone to reflect what matters to them. a) With juniors, focus on clarity and guidance b) With peers, emphasize collaboration c) And with seniors, present solutions and insights -> Mirror their communication style Observe and adapt. If they’re concise, keep it brief. If they value details, bring specifics. Matching their style builds rapport effortlessly. -> Adjust intent, not respect Whether addressing an intern or the CEO, keep respect constant. The difference lies in your approach - guide the former, align with the latter, and influence the decision-makers.
