During lockdown in 2020, the sketch of our first hiking shoe was made: the Fitz Roy As we were all confined and idealizing the outdoors, we thought it was the right time to start with something performance-oriented like a hiking shoe. We took inspiration from the Fitz Roy mountains located on the border between Argentina and Chile which are subtly referenced on the side of the shoe In 2021 the VEJA team took the Fitz Roy to the test in the Alps. No models, just real people travelling together to collectively understand exactly how it felt. A human experience we repeated in 2025 for the opening of Centre Commercial Outdoor, our new store dedicated to sports and outdoor enthusiasts, with brands focusing on clean sourcing, local craftsmanship, and innovation. The anatomy of retro running. What’s behind it? In the 1970s, running was huge in the USA but shoe technology was simple. Retro running's been around since then, starting with thin soles. Then technology grew. Chunkier. Bolder. The style fell away… then came back. It's a trend that cycles, and right now, it's really back. We’ve been designing this kind of shoe for a while: retro running shoes with our own twist. For the Rio Branco II, we kept the codes; a sharp sole with geometric details but made it ours. A big, bold VEJA logo. The largest we’ve ever done. The Paulistana, another VEJA model, we made it a bit bulkier, a bit more classic. "You know, some designs, when they're done right, they're timeless. You wear them in the 80s, and 40 years later, you still want to wear them. It's about simplicity and classic designs. And that's what we're aiming for with VEJA sneakers, that's the essence of a sneaker for me." Jordanne Green, designer at VEJA

Born in Brazil, our new VEJA Arpoador sandal is named after Rio de Janeiro's mythical sunset spot. And that's where we shot it. Back in the 70s, the Arpoador stones was a hippie hotspot where people applauded the sunset, a tradition that lives on today. It's like a way of thanking the sun for its presence. Now, surfers, young people, families and tourists all come together, creating a mix of people and cultures. The Arpoador ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eMt9sks4
