I’m delighted to be attending the UCC Medicine and Health Research Conference today in my role as National Pharmacy Innovation Fellow with the HSE Spark Innovation Programme. This year’s theme ‘Academic Health Science Systems’ really resonates with what Spark is all about: bringing together people across universities, health services, and industry to turn ideas into meaningful change for staff and patients. I’m especially looking forward to the afternoon session showcasing translational research, emerging health service researchers, and the panel discussion led by Prof Helen Whelton and senior leaders from across the South West. These conversations about integration, collaboration, and innovation directly align with Spark’s mission to empower frontline staff to solve challenges and improve care. 💡 If you’re attending, please pop by the Spark stand for a chat about innovation, collaboration, and how we can shape the future of healthcare together. #HSE #UCC #HealthcareInnovation #AcademicHealthScience #SparkProgramme #Collaboration Jared Gormly Caitriona Heffernan Michelle Howard Siobhan Power Claire McElvanna Seán O'Malley Caoimhe Glancy Una Rogers Anna Marie Kiernan Deirdre Bradley HSE South West Cork University Hospital University College Cork Anna Toner, MA, CIP UCC Innovation Andy Phillips

How better to start the week than reflecting on the role of the MDT? Collaboration is key to everything we do at Spark, but it is also vital for healthcare services and innovation. When we work together, we solve problems. Nobody knows this better than Dr. Aileen McCabe and her team in Tallaght University Hospital who led a cross disciplinary initiative across hospital to community to address acute urinary retention in older men, and picked up the Best MDT Award at #SparkSummit2025. Listen back to Dr. McCabe and CNM Ciara Parthiban speak about their work on Dublin City FM. Sharpen your pencil and take note of all the in person and online events taking place this month... If you’re attending any of these events, be sure to speak to one of the Spark Team. We’d love to connect, hear your ideas, and share what we’re working on.
