Celebrating 5 years as Managing Director of Microsoft Israel R&D Center - No fancy words, just 5 lessons I’ve learned along the way:   1. No guts, no glory No matter how I feel before taking a risk, I always remind myself that there is no point being in a leadership position if you’re not going to push boundaries.   2. Titles don’t make you smarter It’s a mistake for leaders to think their title makes them an expert in everything. I rely on my colleagues to tell me when I’m wrong - they’re the experts in their domains.   3. Like Pilates, leverage your core strength from within I used to bulldoze through projects, trying to move walls with brute force. Over time, I realized using that quiet power from within - like in Pilates - often works better.   4. Step back to lead forward Not every issue or decision deserves an hour-long meeting or your personal stamp. Be deliberate about where you invest your time and energy.   5. And most importantly - follow your passion This is the most practical advice I have. When people ask how I’ve avoided burnout after five years in this role, the answer is simple: I chose to work where I can live my passion - and when purpose drives you, energy is always there.

I was recently asked by Walla to share a tip for early-stage entrepreneurs, as part of an article featuring 10 commandments from experienced founders.  Here’s what I shared: 💡 Focus on a real, significant problem – one that’s worth the startup journey. Entrepreneurship is a demanding, long, and sometimes exhausting journey. To stick with it over time, you need to know why you’re getting out of bed in the morning – and most importantly, what problem you’re determined to solve. Don’t fall in love with technology or a cool idea. Fall in love with a real, meaningful problem - one that affects many people or organizations and echoes across a large market. Only a solution that delivers real value to a painful problem will attract customers, employees, and investors - and keep you going as a founder. The deeper the problem and the more precise your solution, the more likely you are to create real impact – not just a nice product. A strong startup doesn’t begin with a brilliant idea, but with a sharp understanding of an unmet need that can’t be ignored.
