Over the past decade, India’s EdTech ecosystem has seen promising pilots demonstrating the potential of Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL). One challenge, however, has remained: can these solutions succeed inside government schools, at scale, during the regular school day? An RCT study of Ei Mindspark in Rajasthan, led by Prof. Karthik Muralidharan (UC San Diego), Prof. Abhijeet Singh (Stockholm School of Economics), and J-PAL South Asia, provides compelling evidence: Key findings from 80 schools and 6,500+ students: ✅ Significant learning gains in Math (+0.22 SD) and Hindi (+0.20 SD) ✅ 1.5–4x more cost-effective than standard instruction ✅ Broad-based impact across gender, caste, and income groups This research is a major milestone for the EdTech ecosystem. It shows that personalised learning can move beyond pilots and deliver measurable improvements at scale, even in resource-constrained classrooms.
