The demand for electricity is set to grow at a pace we haven't seen in modern times. A recent report from the International Energy Agency forecasts that electricity consumption from data centers, AI, and cryptocurrency could double by 2026, potentially reaching an amount equivalent to the entire power consumption of Japan.
This incredible surge is intertwined with the rise of AI, which both drives this demand and offers the intelligence needed to manage it. As our energy needs scale so profoundly, so too must the enterprise systems that form the backbone of the utilities sector.
Against this backdrop, the upcoming 2025 SAP for Utilities Conference, presented by the Americas' SAP Users' Group (ASUG), feels particularly significant. It is a key forum where leaders and experts will confront this central challenge: how to build an operational core that is resilient, intelligent, situationally aware and agile enough for the demand ahead.
We are looking forward to participating in these vital conversations.
As a Rise with SAP validated partner, Infosys is proud to be a Gold Sponsor at this year's event, which we see as an opportunity to collaborate with clients, share stories of transformation, and explore how technology can help utilities adapt and thrive.
From Sept. 8–10 in Denver, you will find us at Booth #202, where we'll showcase how we're helping Utilities navigate digital transformation with SAP's powerful solutions, empowered by Infosys Topaz.
I am particularly keen to understand the perspectives from our client led sessions : Jeff Duran of Southern California Edison (SCE), alongside Abhishek Bansal, on an invaluable experience of leveraging SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP to drive innovation and efficiency. Another session will feature Srinivas Sastry and Kumar Siva from DTE Energy, who will detail out their journey with SAP CDP and SAP Emarsys to create unified customer profiles and enable personalized engagement. Finally, Deepak Kulkarni from Exelon and my colleague, Andrew J. will offer important lessons from their large-scale SAP S/4HANA migration journey.
Real-world experience provides the most valuable roadmap, and these stories are powerful examples of how utilities are actively preparing for a more demanding and dynamic future with intelligence. The path ahead will be defined by our collective ability to innovate responsibly and modernize our core systems. In this landscape, we see our role at Infosys as that of a digital energy orchestrator, translating the vision of our clients into solutions that meet the energy needs of tomorrow.
Events like the SAP for Utilities are crucial because they create the space to test ideas, share possibilities, and turn ambitions into action. We look forward to the event this year.
