#ONGC salutes Shri R.N. Satish Babu, Executive Director, as he superannuates after an illustrious career of nearly four decades dedicated to strengthening #India’s #energy security. From his early days on drilling rigs in Assam to leading pan-India strategic projects, every role shaped him into a leader of resilience, innovation, and purpose. Within two years of joining, his initiative to reduce Non-Productive Time in Assam Asset earned him the Chairman’s Young Executive Award. Later, he pioneered India’s first dual-fuel rig conversion in the Malleswaram Field, an initiative that not only delivered fuel savings but also set the stage for greener rig operations, winning the Chairman’s Innovation Award (2011). From commissioning SHG & SHW platforms in Mumbai High, driving online lube oil monitoring and micro turbines on wellhead platforms, to leading India’s first multistage hydrofrac in Nagayalanka JV that delivered 1,000 BOPD, Shri Babu’s contributions transformed ONGC’s operational excellence. His leadership extended across Rajahmundry, Cauvery, Assam, Mehsana, Bokaro, Ahmedabad, Jorhat, and Mumbai High, where he revived critical infrastructure, executed 20+ long-pending projects, and introduced remote health monitoring for offshore gas turbines. He steered five offshore mega projects worth ₹15,500+ Cr, including the safe installation of 240 km of subsea pipelines and 4 wellhead platforms, alongside 20+ onshore projects worth ₹4,000 Cr, many delivered exactly on schedule, setting new benchmarks for timeliness and execution. Beyond achievements, Shri Babu is admired for his calm leadership, people-first approach, and mentorship of countless engineers and professionals. Starting as a Graduate Trainee in Drilling Services, he rose through the ranks to become the apex leader in ONGC’s drilling operations. From rig-floor operations to corporate leadership, his career embodies dedication and excellence, and is a journey is a remarkable story of grit, growth, and leadership. A technocrat with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and advanced management credentials, Shri Prasad has worked across the length and breadth of the country, onshore, offshore, and in some of India’s most challenging basins. Under his leadership, ONGC consistently achieved its annual drilling targets, overseeing operations across both Western and Eastern offshore shallow waters.
