UX Laws in India – Ground Reality Every designer studies UX laws – Hick’s, Fitt’s, Jakob’s. But when it comes to LALA companies, they somehow create their own versions. 🔹 Hick’s Law → “Kam options, fast decision.” 👉 Reality: “Client ko impress karna hai? Har possible feature ek dropdown mein ghusa do.” 🔹 Fitt’s Law → “Reduce effort to click.” 👉 Reality: “Important button? Usko corner mein chhupa do – jo dhundhega, wahi sachcha user hai.” 🔹 Jakob’s Law → “User expects familiar patterns.” 👉 Reality: “Login page mein OTP left pe, password right pe, aur ‘Submit’ button upar. Kyunki normal boring lagta hai.” 🔹 Aesthetic-Usability Effect → “Beautiful things work better.” 👉 Reality: “UI colour palette client ke bhai ke favourite IPL team se decide hoti hai.” 🔹 Law of User Testing → “Test early, test often.” 👉 Reality: “Testing? Oh woh intern ka kaam hai. Agar bug mila toh ‘feature’ bol dena.” ⸻ 📌 Takeaway: UX laws universal hote hain, lekin LALA companies mein unko “interpret” karna ek alag art hai. These are the most common mistakes UX designers make. And they cost companies a lot of money. 1. Ignoring emotional insights from users. 2. Fixing frustration with the wrong solutions. 3. Focusing only on users without aligning with business. They listen to what users say but miss everything around them. They skip reading between the lines during user testing. They ignore the needs of other teams. Because users don’t have the solution, they are the key to finding it. The cruel truth? A UX Designer can’t work alone.
