As the buzz settles post the conclusion of the #G7 under the Italian Presidency, we at Zhero are proud that the final #statement included a key reference to #interconnectors, highlighting their role as a bridge between Africa and the EU. The statement emphasized Africa and the Mediterranean's potential in providing large-scale, competitive new #sustainable power generation that can on one side support African countries growth and positioning in green energy and on the other provide strong contribution to global decarbonization goals. Furthermore it did "support the development of greater interconnectivity to help reduce the cost of the energy transition and actively support the acceleration of private investments including public to private partnerships". This statement follows strong institutional support that a project like #Medlink is receiving from Italian and European institution as it fully encapsulate and represents all the principles above. Busy week as Zhero joined top CEOs attending the #SMITerraCarta Exhibition, hosted by the Sustainable Markets Initiative in London 🇬🇧 and CERAWeek in Houston 🇺🇸 At the #SMISummit focus was on the importance of private sector leadership and the need for strong business cases that align financial markets with climate-positive solutions. The summit was marked by the opportunity to present progress and initiatives to HM King Charles. Always great to be in #Houston for CERAWeek a key global energy event. Energy #security, #diversification and #affordability were key themes. The possibility of creating energy #corridors was discussed in the panel Alessandra Pasini participated in. At Zhero we are actively working on energy corridors with #Medlink, which is an electricity bridge connecting Europe 🇪🇺 with North Africa leveraging existing strong infrastructure in an affordable way. The International Maritime Organization finalising its standard later this year will provide an opportunity to create new #energycorridors for e-fuels, and we will be ready. This week we also got the Authorization Decree for our first 🇮🇹 utility scale project 💪, 100 MW x 400 MWh, and we are working full cylinders on additional authorizations ahead of #Macse tender in September #SMI #TerraCarta #CERAWeek #Zhero #zheropeak #affordability #SustainableLeadership

Zhero together with Sustainable Markets Initiative and Breakthrough Energy kicked off a roundtable discussion, on interconnectors at #ClimateWeekNYC. There is a massive need for new transmission lines to handle the massive buildout of renewable power needed to reach net zero and meet growing demand for electricity. Interconnectors have transformative potential - private and public leaders and decision - makers must work together to unlock that potential. Discussion covered lessons learned through past projects, the role of public-private partnerships in accelerating investment, emerging significance of offshore solutions in areas such as the #Mediterranean, and market & policy signals required to accelerate developments. Grateful to Alessandra Pasini, Maria Robinson, Dennis Jeffery, Miguel Angel Prado Balboa, Michael Skelly, Shashank Sane, Christina Hayes, Chandrasekar Govindarajalu, Atul Arya and Campbell Howe for prioritizing this critical conversation during a busy #ClimateWeek in NY.
