On June 23rd -24th, 2025, our team attended the 13th Africa Evidence Summit in Nairobi, Kenya hosted by Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) and The Network of Impact Evaluation Researchers in Africa (NIERA). #AES2025 The two-day summit was a vibrant hub of knowledge! 💡 From behavioural science for social impact to climate adaptation, agriculture, gender, economic inclusion, and displacement, every session challenged us to rethink how rigorous evidence can shape more effective and equitable development outcomes. What stood out most for us? The strong emphasis on partnership and collaboration 🤝, between researchers, governments, and implementing organizations, to ensure that evidence doesn’t just sit on shelves, but actively informs real-world decisions and policies that improve lives. 📊 Beyond the content, we were deeply inspired by the energy and commitment in the room, from researchers to policymakers, all united in closing the gap between what works and what gets done. 💪 Here’s a glimpse of our team soaking it all in! 📸✨ Chris Boyd Dan Bunter Brian Kiprop Alvin Igobwa Norah Nyaboke

It was a pleasure being on the SH Agroconnect Consulting Ltd. podcast! Thanks Dr. Okelola Folarin OLADAPO FOLARIN, FIMC for having me on. I discuss various topics related to agricultural research, including some insights from EDI Global Mathematica projects that I have worked on. Do listen and subscribe to the podcast! #AgriculturalResearch #Farming #UK #Kenya #NextGenFarming
On this Episode of The NextGen Agro Talks Podcast with Oladapo & Dr. Okelola, we delve into the world of global agriculture with an exciting guest — Dan Bunter In this episode, Dan shares practical experiences and key lessons from working across different countries, the evolving role of data and technology in agriculture, and how young Africans can position themselves for opportunities in the global agri-space. Dan Bunter is an International Development Researcher of 8 years experience. Born and raised in the UK, his research experiences have spanned across the UK, South-East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he works as a Senior Consultant for EDI Global, part of Mathematica. Dan’s role is to lead monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) projects across the EDI Global portfolio. Dan’s research portfolio consists mainly of projects in the agriculture sector, but he has also led research in the trade, private sector development and education sectors. Dan is a passionate advocate for enabling the provision of high-quality, timely data for decision-making, as well as leveraging technological advancements to find efficiencies in the research cycle. He is also very keen to point out that the research community should always prioritize the needs of the prime beneficiary (e.g. farmers, young people) when constructing programmes and research proposals Whether you’re an aspiring agripreneur, development professional, or just curious about the future of food systems, this episode is packed with value. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘄𝗲 & 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 This year’s Academy brought together six dynamic young women from Zimbabwe and Tanzania—members of the CAMFED Association (CAMA)—for a one-week, immersive training in the research process. From formulating questions to collecting, analysing, and communicating findings, these young researchers explored every stage of the research cycle. The training combined both quantitative and qualitative methods, alongside hands-on sessions in research ethics, data collection tools, public engagement, storytelling, and even podcasting—all geared toward building capacity for youth-led research. At the heart of YRA is a simple but powerful belief: young people must be equal partners in research, especially on issues that affect them—like health, education, and livelihoods. Following this training, the participants will apply their skills through the CAMFED Livelihoods Research Project, a multi-country study aiming to understand how support systems can enhance economic outcomes for young women in Zimbabwe and Tanzania. We are grateful to our incredible 13 facilitators including Constance Mackworth-Young, Chido Dziva Chikwari, Dr. Rudo M.S Chingono, Collins Timire (PhD, MPH, HBMLS), Ted Manyanga, Tawanda Nyengerai], nyasha natasha buwu, Nonhlanhla Lindelwe Ndondo, Ellen Chiyindiko, Woopi Takarasima, Jeffrey Nyandoro, Daudi Reuben, and Winnie Dekete—who generously shared their time, energy, and expertise.
