We are partnering with a well know real estate developer based in Houston who are looking to bring on a talented, ambitious Director of Construction into their team.
The Director of Construction will oversee all aspects of construction across the firm’s commercial development pipeline. This individual will be responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, general contractors, consultants, and construction teams to ensure timely, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, experienced builder, and collaborative leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all construction activities for commercial real estate development projects across the Greater Houston area.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards from design development through construction completion and turnover.
Collaborate with internal teams including acquisitions, development, and asset management to align construction goals with overall project strategy.
Select, contract, and manage general contractors, consultants, architects, and engineers.
Monitor construction progress through regular site visits, meetings, and reporting tools.
Oversee bidding and procurement processes and ensure cost-effective decision-making.
Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
Ensure full compliance with local codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements.
Implement and enforce health, safety, and risk management protocols across all job sites.
Report project status, risks, and KPIs to executive leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) a plus.
10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 3+ years in a senior management or director-level role.
Proven experience delivering office, retail, industrial, or mixed-use projects from ground-up to completion.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and construction methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Deep understanding of the Houston commercial construction and permitting environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and teams concurrently.
