Assuming that a plan is already being worked out, an option is also to explore technology to build self-sufficiency in technology. And as you can imagine, I will discuss AI's role. 🙂 AI's role is to understand how to explore processes that can help generate these minerals locally and how to explore alternatives. When I am not watching full-length movies or TV series, one specific type of video I love watching is one in which some of my favorite physics professors teach interesting topics on YouTube. One of these professors is the legendary Indian professor of physics, Dr. H.C Verma. In one of his videos, he quoted something close to my heart. He highlighted that as a teacher, he is not working on developing knowledge in his students. Knowledge is almost free or inexpensive these days for those who seek it. "What I seek to help students with is the ability to ask the question "Why" and think about "How"?-He said. It is this thinking that will help create new knowledge. If you know a fact, like, say, the magnitude of charge at the center of a conducting hollow sphere, have you just memorized the fact, or do you spend time finding out why? I paused there to consider how this applies to this entire AI race. Now that most leading tools are nearing maturity, one lucrative opportunity is in the domain of creating new knowledge. Specialized tools can be made (some already exist) to generate new findings. This specific news article is one example. Though not an expert in either physics or chemistry, I spent a couple of weeks last month learning more about them, their manufacturing processes, and the properties that make them useful in the tech manufacturing process, specifically in chipmaking and defense-related industries. It was very much evident that pairing R&D in these domains with AI can help in both aspects, help manufacture these critical minerals in sufficient quantities within friendly nations AND find alternatives to these minerals. Obviously my research was based on material openly available. There may be aspects that are not overt because of the usage in defnese industries but I am confident that AI can be leveraged to explore alternatives in areas where self-sufficiency currently does not exist. And that is what leveraging AI for new knowledge generation is about. #ai #artificialintelligence #manufacturing #tech #technology #techcnologystrategy #techstrategy
