A first in Morocco. A milestone for water autonomy. 💧 OCP Group continues its sustainable industrial transformation with the launch of #J2K, a 203 km pipeline linking Jorf Lasfar in the Atlantic coast to Khouribga, home to the world’s largest phosphate mining basin. Delivered in a record time of just 24 months, this major infrastructure project brought together the expertise of OCP Green Water, OCP Mining, JESA S.A, Moroccan companies, and UM6P - University Mohammed VI Polytechnic research labs. It marks a decisive step in our integrated vision: producing 100% non-conventional water, powered entirely by #RenewableEnergy to serve both industrial operations and surrounding communities. Today marks a major milestone. OCP Group is achieving its target of using 100% non conventional water across all its mining & industrial sites. We are achieving the goal thanks to the completion of the Jorf Lasfar- Khouribga (J2K) pipeline, a groundbreaking piece of infrastructure that now supplies the world’s largest phosphate mine with desalinated #water. OCP Group contributed to the 2025 WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development Barometer, co-developing the newly added fertlizers chapter. The report features a dedicated section on the phosphate industry, officially recognized by WBCSD and co-authors, as a hard-to-abate sector – marking a first for our industry. It highlights critical technical and economical barriers including process-related emissions, high-temperature drying, and the absence of clear decarbonization pathways ; reinforcing the need for sector-specific policies and standards. This contribution reflects OCP Group’s commitment to global dialogue and policy-shaping, anchored in scientific evidence and strategic clarity.
