theUtmost Regicide is infectiously catchy. Love the understated guitar hooks in Breathe Me In.
Several tracks feature masterful use of guitar effects pedals, just top stuff! Listening to tracks like “You’ll never know yourself” “Cagehead”, “Wild Spaghetti West”, “Final Mission”
If you’re heading back to NZ anytime, try to catch up with “The Nudge” band members while you’re here. You’re on a similar wavelength I reckon - a jam session with them would be EPIC.❤️
Favorite track: Regicide.

marcandrebrucker One of my absolute favourite albums ever. Not a single tune on this LP is less than great in their very own unique way. A constant journey through various neighbouring genres and styles extremely well composed. 11 out of 10! Favorite track: You'll Never Know Yourself.

Regicide 04:18 video
Just by following our enemy I can lose for a victory And if we wanna change our destiny there’s a way that can set us free Just by following our enemy I can lose for a victory And if we wanna change our history there’s a way that can set us free You left me off Right from the start You left me off In exile after my regicide Go on, arrest me and kill me I know my guilt is not here Just by following our enemy I can live for a victory And if we wanna change our destiny there’s a way that can set us free… There’s a way that can set us There’s a way You left me off Right from the start You left me off In exile after my regicide Shoot the king to show your better side

I’ll raise the crime rate more than anything After all this time  I’ll raise the crime rate more than anything Come enjoy the fight Do lose control, do lose control I’ll raise the crime rate more than anything Then watch them fall Stand still in your uniform Stand by your flag Stand there with your loaded gun Stand against the Tank Man I’ve lost my law, so dead and gone I’ll raise the crime rate more than anything To make them crawl I’ve lost control of everyone Look what I’ve done, now we’re alone Be on my side, I’m always right We’ll raise the crime rate more than anything To affect them all
3.
Would you let me in your dream? I believe in my feelings Would you let me in your dream? Take it slowly, breathe me in Breathe me in Would you let me in your dream? I believe in my fantasy Would you ever be a part of me? In silence, breath me in Breathe me in

She said “What you stole from me What you stole from me was romance” Instead what you gave to me What you gave to me was not mine You can take a ride anywhere you want Surfing in the night you’re against the wall, yeh You’ll get me in, I’ll get you out You can rule the tide every time you want We won’t read the signs down the endless road, yeh I’ll get you in, you’ll get me out Pretty soon I will follow you Coming now is your waning moon Fool around, the time is right to prove that you’re a stranger She said “What you stole from me What you stole from me was romance” Instead what you gave to me What you gave to me was not mine He’s a little high, with a broken bone Let me fix your mind in the early morning I got you in, you got me out After noon, be sure to never turn your back I won’t try to define what’s now in the past Let me keep it, it’s a secret or I won’t survive She said “What you stole from me What you stole from me was romance” Instead what you gave to me What you gave to me was not mine

Every single role we end up playing Can I play them all in a single face? Join me at the show, I’m not afraid Stable or unstable, who can relate? Here’s another metaphor unexplained The thoughts I refuse are not insane Even though I think you know what’s inside Even though I think you know what’s outside Even though, even though You will never know yourself You will never show yourself Every single role we end up playing In a broken world, let’s replicate Join me at the show, where all is fake Even though I think you know what’s inside Even though I think you know what’s outside Even though, even though You will never know yourself You will never show yourself

Aquawish 03:19 video
In the underworld below the sea, where all is drowned There’s a silver ring it’s yours to keep, take it now In the afterworld above the sea, before the sun There’s a magic girl I wanna meet and take her out One wish to find, three, four, five more times To see you smile, three, four, five more times In the real world at nine o six, the stars aligned I made another wish to have you here and call you mine I want you to forget I want you to forget It was a long time ago I wanted to forget and take a different path till not a long time ago One wish to find, three, four, five more times To see you smile, three, four, five more times One wish, one wish, one wish, one wish One wish to find, three, four, five more times

Cagehead 05:13
I’m coming down right there in the underground Nothing’s around right there in the underground I’ll hear no sound right there in the underground I’ll hear no sound right there in the underground I’m ready now to fall in the underground   I’m happy now to fall in the underground and play this on and on and... until the show is over I’m never found right here in the underground I’d rather stay and live inside in my cage I’d rather pray to live inside in my cage My head is made of pure glass The walls are breaking so fast Follow my way to live inside in your cage I’m breaking... I’m breaking down I’m breaking I’m breaking down...
8.
Ah, ah, ah... Now that time is over can you give me closure? Right next to my lover Close to me one more time Oh, oh, oh... Now that time is over can you give me closure? Right next to my lover Close to me one more time Now my life is over Death is getting closer And as I’m getting colder I still can feel my warm gun Uh, uh... Na na, na na, na na, na na Oh, oh, oh
9.
Back to the sea It’s been so long, I missed it All that I know is sinking All that I know is coming with me Back to the sea Gills on my lungs, let me breathe Where I belong, who can live? There’s nothing wrong emerging from here Back to the sea On my own, under my skin On my own, I’m incomplete until the end Back to the sea Walk on land, amphibian Hide in sand, I know my plan was never that There’s a ship now sailing out by the siren of the ground There’s a ship now sailing There’s a ship now sailing out by the sailor of the ground There’s a ship now sailing out Gills on my lungs
10.
One way ticket to the sun I’ll make sure there’s no return I’ll make sure to bring the dark with me Do you know where we come from? Cause I was feeling invisible I was trying to visualize myself Looking now inside the screen Is it you in my TV? Close enough to say goodbye from afar Can we feel it one more time? One more day, one more night One more day before I go, oh no And once you leave the earth Then nothing can be heard The end we don’t deserve I’ll leave before we die to seek you from the sky I’m glad I won’t survive And once you leave the earth Then nothing can be heard The end we don’t deserve I’ll leave before we die to seek you from the sky I’m glad I’ve met you

about

New Candys make a powerful return in 2025 with the release of their highly anticipated fifth album, ‘The Uncanny Extravaganza’, via Fuzz Club. Marking a bold evolution in the band’s sound, the album blends their signature rock roots with electronic influences and cutting-edge production, resulting in a genre-defying sonic experience. It also opens a fresh chapter for the band, showcasing a new lineup with core members Fernando Nuti (vocals, guitar, synth, programming) and Dario Lucchesi (bass, synth, programming), alongside Emanuele Zanardo (guitar, backing vocals) and Francesco Giacomin (drums, percussion, sampler). This record follows their 2021 release, ‘Vyvyd’, which led to shows across North America and Europe through late 2023.

The creation of ‘The Uncanny Extravaganza’ began in late 2022 when the band started working on new material. Nuti, the band’s primary songwriter, says: "It was an intense and exciting time. I had many songs and ideas that I wanted to try out with the band, and we ended up debuting ‘Crime Wave’ live. We don't live close to each other and can't rehearse very often, so using our home studios became the solution. This new process gave us the opportunity to experiment further, and it allowed me to quickly explore different arrangements to find the best one for each song".

Lucchesi’s growing interest in electronic music also played a pivotal role in shaping the album’s direction, making his transition from drums to bass a natural evolution. He elaborates: "The lineup change and the shift to bass created a situation where I could bring new ideas to the band. Working alone, with my own pace and methods, allowed me to explore and express myself more effectively. I found it refreshing to play remotely, exchanging projects and seeing the progress of the songs that both Fernando and I could work on, handling all the instruments and breaking away from the roles established on stage and on previous albums". Their collaboration resulted in standout tracks like ‘Regicide’ and ‘Night Surfer’, with contributions from Zanardo and Giacomin further enriching the band’s evolving sound, culminating in some of the best songs New Candys have ever written.

Production was handled by Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher), who worked closely with the band throughout 2024, spreading the recording sessions across the year to focus on individual tracks in detail. "After self-producing all our records, except for the first, we wanted to collaborate closely with Maurizio on this one", explains Nuti. "We're thrilled with the final result. With Vyvyd, we just scratched the surface of electronic elements, this time we fully embraced them and found a new balance. I couldn’t imagine us finishing a song using only the instruments we normally play live, it wouldn’t have been interesting, contemporary, or new enough. Also, I couldn’t have cared less about making a stylistically and genre-cohesive album. In fact, the less categorizable and the more bizarre it was, the happier we were. I wanted each track to feel unexpected, a constant surprise. Just when you think you’ve figured out what kind of record it is, the next song makes you realize you’re wrong".

The album's sonic variety, a hallmark of New Candys' music, is more pronounced than ever. Its title combines contrasting terms that reflect the band’s multifaceted artistic vision. From the aggressive, gritty sounds of ‘Regicide’ and ‘Crime Wave’ to the minimal, melancholic tones of ‘Aquawish’ and ‘Final Mission’, the record spans a wide range of styles. Tracks like ‘Night Surfer’ and ‘Wild Spaghetti West’ feature western and surf-influenced riffs, while ‘Cagehead’ and ‘You'll Never Know Yourself’ offer psychedelic outros.

Lyrically, the album delves into surreal and sometimes cryptic themes, with a recurring motif related to water, inspired by the band’s proximity to Venice. Nuti reflects on how everything underwater transforms, appearing dreamlike, distorted, inaccessible, and often lifeless, and uses this imagery metaphorically, relating it to reality to inspire both the lyrics and the artwork. The album also conveys a sense of rebellion, considering how the pandemic provided an opportunity to rethink priorities, a chance that world politics missed.

With ‘The Uncanny Extravaganza’, New Candys continue to evolve, blending their signature sound with fresh influences to create what is arguably their most compelling work to date. Released on May 30, 2025, the record is now available for fans to experience in full.
