  • PRESS RELEASE Ojulari Will Deliver on NNPC, Oil Industry Reforms, Says Orji …As NNPC, NEITI Deepen Collaboration on Transparency, Global Accountability Standards The Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, has expressed confidence in the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd., led by Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, to deliver on ongoing reforms in the Company and to set new benchmarks for corporate governance in Africa’s extractive industry. Orji disclosed this during a courtesy call on the NNPC Management at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday. He commended the vision of the new NNPC Ltd. leadership, noting that its assumption into office comes at a defining moment for Nigeria’s extractive sector, whereby reforms, renewed investor confidence, and expanded indigenous participation are reshaping the nation’s oil and gas landscape. While urging the NNPC Ltd. to stand as a model of transparency, accountability, efficiency, and civic engagement, the NEITI head said those values remain essential elements in restoring public trust and safeguarding the company as Nigeria’s greatest national asset. The GCEO, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari said the NNPC Ltd. will sustain its collaboration with NEITI towards enhancing openness and strengthening corporate governance in line with global transparency and accountability standards.‎ Ojulari, who said the NNPC Ltd. remains unwavering in its commitment to deeper disclosures and transparent reporting, noted that the company has since reinstated the publication of monthly financial and operational reports and strengthened its internal reporting structures to ensure greater accountability. "In terms of full compliance to NEITI principles and global EITI standards, you have my full commitment. We will look to your guidance as we deepen this. We are already doing a lot of internal transformation to deepen transparency in our operational reporting and performance reviews,” Ojulari said. The GCEO also stated that NNPCL would lean on NEITI’s global experience in providing feedback on performance reviews. On the forthcoming NEITI 2024 Oil and Gas Audit, the GCEO said NNPC Ltd. is fully prepared to provide comprehensive data for the 2024 and 2025 audits, and would leverage technology to ensure efficiency and timeliness.‎ Ojulari re-iterated President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to the new NNPC Ltd. Management Team to ramp up oil and gas production and expand the nation’s refining capacity. He also stated that achieving these targets would require attracting at least $60 billion in fresh investments; a goal that can only be realised through sustained transformation, investor confidence, and strengthened partnerships with operators, government agencies, and accountability institutions such as NEITI.‎ Signed NNPC Ltd. • PRESS RELEASE We Are Under Attack, Ojulari Tells PENGASSAN …As Oil Workers Thumb Up On-going Reforms at NNPC Ltd Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has revealed that the Company is under attack from people who don't mean well for Nigeria and who are against the ongoing transformation efforts in the Company. Ojulari disclosed this while playing host to a delegation from the national body of the Petroleum & Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday. He said because change always comes with a price, the NNPC Management will not succumb to such attacks. Instead, it will work for the larger interest of Nigerians. “We are under attack. We will not budge to short-term pressure, as it will not be in the best interest of Nigerians. You cannot drive change without a price, and the transformation is tough,” Ojulari explained. The GCEO emphasised that patience will be required from the Nigerian people at large to get to the other side of change, which will benefit Nigeria and her citizens. He reiterated his commitment to stay focused in driving the mandate given to the team by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While thanking the leadership of the Union for its support, Ojulari assured them to stay calm and build resilience to stay focused during these trials. “I am overwhelmed with the support from the union executives present here. The enemies of this company and Nigerians will not win,” he added. He said since coming on board about five months ago, his Management Team prioritised reviving the nation's refineries in order to put them back into more sustainable and profitable venture by considering the Incorporated Joint Venture (IJV) model. "Mr. President doesn’t pressure me to do the wrong thing. That is why we are looking at the baseline to ensure whatever we are doing, the refineries work sustainably going forward. We don’t want to pretend and just do some quick fix because there is pressure on us,” Ojulari added. Earlier in his address, the President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo, said the oil workers union came to thank the NNPC Management for its partnership during the recently held 2025 PENGASSAN Energy & Labour Summit (PEALS) in Abuja. The Union also acknowledged the “remarkable milestones” recorded so far under the GCEO’s watch. “Our pipelines are now working. Also, crude oil theft has significantly reduced, leading to increased production. As PENGASSAN, we assure you that we are solidly behind you. We will work with you and collaborate with your team to ensure the stability of the system for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he concluded.   Signed NNPC Ltd Abuja 28th August 2025

  • Patience Morgan’s NNPC Story: From Tea Lady to Trailblazer in the Towers Patience Morgan started working at NNPC as a bright eyed 20-year-old tea lady in the late 1990s. She started working here even before the Towers were built and says she was amongst the first to inhabit the building. “There were no desks, chairs or furniture and we would stand all day…but I liked the work,” she recalls. She was also the first tea lady and had trained hundreds more over the decades. Patience remembers a lot of things about the early days when she was petrified of the lifts because she’d never seen or been in a lift before. She bursts into laughter as she recounts her escapades how she’d ride them for fun in her free time. The story of her journey here, much like her early lift rides were full of highs and lows—but more highs, she says by the grace of God and the great people of NNPC who believed in her and kept elevating her. In 2005 she was elevated to serve on the executive 11th floor, where she has been ever since, having now worked for 15 GCEOs. Patience gets teary-eyed and suddenly breaks into prayers mid conversation as she says that God used NNPC to change her life story. “I came here as a young, single girl. I got married here to a pastor….This job and the grace of God helped me train all my five children,” she said. Her first three are university graduates and her youngest two children are in secondary school. She learned the values of patience, hard work and determination by observing NNPC staff whom she served over the years. She’s watched many careers grow and inspired her to instill the value of education in her children. “My children are brilliant and by God’s grace, one of them will work for NNPC,” she said, flashing her electric smile. Asked what makes her happiest about the job these days, she responded, “The people. The kind, hardworking people.” As the conversation draws to a close, she asks for a favour. She wanted to send a thank you message to the GCEO— Bayo Bashir Ojulari. So, the video rolled. Patience Morgan turned 48 today. She wore a lovely outfit and brought a cake to share with friends. What she didn’t know was that providence would get her a meeting with the GCEO who heard it was her birthday and insisted on a photo. Happy birthday, Patience Morgan— here’s to many more years in good health! #HumansOfNNPC #EnergyforToday #EnergyforTomorrow
