What’s the difference between frozen, chilled, shock and ambient storage? Let’s break the ice. In temperature-controlled logistics, every degree counts. Whether it’s keeping ice cream frozen at -25°C or safeguarding fresh produce at +3°C, precision in cold chain management is non-negotiable. At NewCold, we operate across a spectrum of cold storage environments to preserve the quality, safety, and shelf life of the world’s most temperature-sensitive products. Here’s a quick rundown of the key cold storage zones: ⏺️ Frozen Storage -18°C to -25°C | 0°F to -13°F Perfect for long-term storage of meat, fish, veggies & desserts. ⏺️ Shock Freezing (Blast) -30°C to -40°C | -22°F to -40°F Used to instantly lock in product quality post-production. ⏺️ Chilled Storage 0°C to +5°C | 32°F to 41°F Ideal for dairy, deli, and fresh produce — without freezing. ⏺️ Ambient Storage +15°C to +25°C | 59°F to 77°F For dry goods that require steady temps. At NewCold, we combine cutting-edge automation, deep-freeze capabilities, and global scale to serve the world’s most demanding cold chains. Whatever the temperature, we deliver with precision. #NewCold #ColdChain #FrozenFoodLogistics #SupplyChainExcellence #FoodSafety #ChilledStorage #Automation #LogisticsInnovation

At NewCold, sustainability isn’t an afterthought, it’s embedded into everything we build. Our Melbourne Mega-Site, one of the largest and tallest cold storage facilities in the world, stands as proof that size and sustainability can go hand in hand. From rooftop solar already powering operations, to the development of a 28,000 m² solar farm, Melbourne is a driving force behind NewCold’s commitment to reach net zero by 2040. And it’s not just about energy: our Sustainable Disposal of Product Solution diverts outdated stock away from landfill, transforming it into livestock feed that supports drought-affected farmers in regional Victoria. “Sustainability is not just about reducing our footprint—it’s about creating smarter systems that benefit our customers, our communities, and the planet. NewCold Melbourne shows that logistics at scale can, and must, be sustainable,” Peter Petito, Project Director, NewCold Melbourne. Every pallet, every partnership, and every innovation at NewCold Melbourne reinforces our mission to build smarter, stronger, more sustainable food supply chains across the Asia-Pacific region.

Business. Sport. Precision. At first glance, they couldn’t be further apart. But step closer, and you see the same DNA. In elite sport, every moment is a competition — speed, skill, precision. The same is true in business. Both demand focus, fast decision-making, and an obsession with the result. In bobsleigh, steering is millimetre-precise, timing is down to the split-second, and mistakes have no room to breathe. In our world of automated cold storage, it’s the same. A shipment must be on time, in the right quantity, to the right place. Every time. From the ice track to the loading dock, success is all about precision, teamwork, and speed. And in both games — sport or business — the win belongs to the team that gets it right when it matters most. NewCold is a proud sponsor of Dutch Sliding Federation (Bob en Slee Bond Nederland – BSBN) #PrecisionMatters #InnovationInMotion #Teamwork #BusinessAndSport #ColdChainExcellence

At NewCold, growth opportunities are a cornerstone of our company culture. For Senior Finance Director Trae Richardson, that growth has taken him across continents and into new opportunities within the company. “I'm a good case study based on my movement from originally being in the office in the Netherlands and then moving to Melbourne, Australia; Burley, Idaho; and then Chicago, Illinois,” says Trae. “It's not the only way to grow and advance your career within NewCold. There are plenty of other ways to grow within your department, or venture outside of that and experience other departments and activities.” With a culture that supports curiosity, flexibility, and cross-functional collaboration, Trae’s experience reflects what’s possible when you’re part of a fast-moving global team. “There's no one perfect answer to be successful at NewCold,” says Trae. “One I do like to pick out quite a bit is flexibility and your mindset on how we approach different topics, how we create solutions, and how we work with people.” Watch Trae’s story in the video below to hear how he’s built a rewarding career by staying curious, contributing across teams, and embracing the pace of change. We are honored to have partnered with the Town of Coaldale and the Government of Alberta in securing Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) funding to support the Industrial Rail Extension Project, a milestone that will strengthen Alberta’s food economy and sets the stage for long-term growth in southern Alberta. This $8 million infrastructure investment, jointly funded by the Province, the Town, and NewCold, connects Coaldale’s industrial park to the CPKC rail line and helps unlock new opportunities for food processors and manufacturers across the region. The project will support local producers, providing the infrastructure required to compete on a global scale faster, more sustainably, and more reliably than ever before. We are grateful to Mayor Jack Van Rijn, Town Council, Minister Devin Dreeshen, Minister Grant Hunter, and the many community leaders who supported and championed this project. Their vision and support were critical in bringing it to life. NewCold is proud to be growing here, creating jobs here, and investing in Coaldale’s future as a key export hub for Alberta’s food and agriculture economy. Together, we’re building a better, more resilient supply chain for the future. #innovation #logistics #supplychain #coldchain #Coaldale #InvestAlberta
Major Milestone for Town of Coaldale and Southern Alberta! This morning, we were honoured to welcome Minister Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, and Associate Minister Grant Hunter, Minister of Water, to Coaldale for an exciting announcement. With the support of the Government of Alberta, the Town of Coaldale has officially secured $3.475 million in Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) funding for our Industrial Rail Extension Project, the first rail infrastructure initiative in Alberta to receive STIP support. Jointly funded by the Government of Alberta, the Town, and NewCold, a global leader in cold storage logistics, this $8 million project saw the construction of a 2.7-kilometre rail spur linking Coaldale’s industrial park to the main CPKC rail line. This investment supports the development of NewCold’s $222 million, state-of-the-art facility and opens up new rail-accessible industrial land, positioning Coaldale as a regional driver of economic growth. We were also pleased to welcome NewCold Area Site Manager Derek Bedke, who shared thoughtful remarks on behalf of the company. Derek noted, “This project is more than just an industrial investment. It’s about unlocking growth for Alberta’s food economy and supporting Coaldale as it increasingly becomes an export hub.” Derek emphasized NewCold’s mission to build a better, more resilient food supply chain and recognized the Town of Coaldale and the Province of Alberta as champions in helping make that vision a reality. He praised Council and administration for fast-tracking approvals and standing shoulder to shoulder with NewCold to ensure this project was understood at all levels of government. As I shared during the announcement, “This project represents one of the most significant industrial infrastructure investments in Coaldale’s history.” I want to express my sincere appreciation to our entire Town Council for believing in this project from day one and for supporting a bold, forward-thinking strategy. Your leadership gave our administrative team the mandate to pursue this opportunity with focus and determination. Under the leadership of CAO Kalen Hastings and the outstanding efforts of Director of Growth & Investment and Deputy CAO Cameron Mills, the Town of Coaldale rezoned land and approved the rail spur in just seven days. That kind of speed and certainty is rare, setting Coaldale and Alberta apart. This funding secures more than infrastructure. It secured hundreds of construction jobs, 60 full-time positions, and long-term economic opportunities, sending a clear message to the investment world: Coaldale is open for business, and we mean it. Thank you to everyone who contributed to turning this vision into reality. We are proud to be writing the next chapter of Coaldale’s growth alongside our provincial and industry partners, including Invest Alberta, who were instrumental in making today's announcement possible.
