The purpose of the work is to present a synthetic method for fatigue analysis of critical base connections in offshore steel structures at concept design stages. The method adopts a combination of excel spreadsheets and outputs from the commercial software Oasys GSA.

The aim is to identify stress spectra for tubular joints in the lower sections of offshore steel jackets and combine them with wave spectral information to obtain short term stress response statistics. These can be used to define cumulative damage at the joint and ultimately expected fatigue life.
