🎉Overwatch 2 at the 2025 Esports World Cup belongs to Team Falcons! From literal last chance qualifiers to OWCS Midseason Championship winners at the 2025 Esports World Cup, Team Falcons have lifted the trophy in Riyadh and are this year's incredible champions. Despite being the reigning OWCS champions, Team Falcons were forced to make a run through the Last Chance Qualifiers after missing out on qualification in both the Champions Clash and the OWCS Korea Stage 2. And with that LCQ run, the Korean roster became the first ever team to scoop the Jafonso award in the process, an honour given to teams who arrive in Riyadh and have to fight their way through last chance qualifiers to win. The award was named after João "jafonso" Vasconcelos, who, in 2024, was the first, and until now only, player to win an EWC tournament after qualifying through the last chance qualifiers and going onto win a championship. Team Falcons now get to have that distinction written in the history books as they become eligible to win the Club Championship. With 1000 Club points banked from their Overwatch 2 victory, Team Falcons now move on up to first place with 3500 points. With a trophy in their hands, they become eligible to win the Club Championship should they top the table at the end of the event.
