Offshore infrastructure can have onshore impacts – the subtle influence on local wave climates can alter coastal dynamics with unintended consequences. In this opinion piece, our Senior Coastal Engineer, James Mason shares his perspective on why coastal processes should be part of offshore wind planning from the start. Understanding these impacts early can help developers, planners and decision-makers: • Strengthen environmental approvals • Identify and manage long-term coastal impacts • Avoid unexpected environmental issues • Build trust with local communities Discover how early coastal insight can de-risk offshore wind projects: https://bit.ly/46NbnEK It's a reminder that understanding coastal systems isn't just good practice, it's key to long-term project success. #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition

Our Critical Infrastructure team has successfully completed Part 1 of a two-part Independent Structural Inspection (ISI) at AGLs Loy Yang Power Station and open-pit coal mine. Over eight days, a dedicated team of five inspectors—Samuel McQuade MIEAust CPEng RPEQ RPEV, Priyank Shriyan, Charmaine Lapin, Christopher O'Dea, Sebastian Prostimo —conducted a comprehensive structural assessment of Loy Yang’s D15 machine, a key asset in Victoria’s energy infrastructure. One of the photos also features the D14 machine, which was operating near the D15 during our inspection work. Battling cold and wet conditions, the team demonstrated exceptional resilience and precision, delivering a thorough, independent evaluation. This inspection is a crucial step in ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of critical infrastructure that powers millions of homes and businesses across Victoria. Stay tuned for Part 2. #CriticalInfrastructure #Energy #PoweringAustralianLife

While the possible causes of failure of #ComplexChange and #TransformationProgrammes can seem endless, there is normally one common denominator: people. Large-scale transformations often focus most effort on defining the problem at hand and funnelling resource into designing and implementing a new tool or way of working. This does not consider the fundamental behaviour shift that needs to underpin any successful change. In this paper (link in the comments), Kate Walker, higlights #Coaching as a proven tool to support change leaders and their teams. By clarifying goals and introducing accountability for their achievement, it serves to address resistance and to build a workforce that is able to adapt and embrace change. In the past decade, our #consulting teams have supported our clients change and transformation needs across the public and private sectors. The greatest impact and success has been achieved where structural and programmatic approaches are supported by attention to the cultural and behavioural aspects of change.

“Sustainability isn’t an add-on - it’s a mindset.” In this Defending Blue interview, our Chief Executive, Sarah Kenny OBE joins defence journalist Alix Valenti to talk candidly about leading in a changing maritime world, and how innovation, collaboration, and sustainability must go hand in hand. From autonomous environmental survey vessels to greener naval platforms, Sarah shares how BMT is putting sustainable thinking into action - not just to meet targets, but to drive meaningful, lasting change at sea. Watch the full video below to hear how BMT is challenging assumptions - and building solutions - at the intersection of engineering, defence, and climate action. Want more like this? 24 peaks. 33 miles. 13,000 ft of climbing. What a weekend! Two incredible BMT teams recently took on the Seafarers' 24 Peaks Challenge, pushing themselves across the stunning (and slightly soggy) Lake District. This wasn’t just about personal endurance - it was about teamwork, resilience, and supporting a cause that means a lot to us. With maritime at the heart of what we do, helping those who dedicate their lives to working at sea feels only right. Through every false summit, sideways gust, and shared laugh, our team showed what’s possible when people pull together. And along the way, they've so far raised over £11,000 to support seafarers and their families. 👉 Please help us reach the summit of our fundraising target for The Seafarers’ Charity https://bit.ly/44Xr1vH Massive respect to everyone who took part. From blisters to breathtaking views, and teamwork that powered them through gale-force winds and sideways rain, this was one for the memory books. And thanks to our Chief Executive, Sarah Kenny OBE for supporting with company funding. A huge thank you to the organisers, support crew, and every teammate who made this unforgettable: Gary Wilson MSc BSc(Hons) MSaRS IEng, Gareth Griffiths, Carrie T., Ed Curzon-Lewis, Gary Peters, Thomas Carter, Michael Larking, Oliver Loader, Margie Quennell-Mendoza, Jack Lillistone, Laura Star, Oliver Clough, Harry Madge, Sam Brake, Jason Richardson, Jack Fielding, Benjamin Scott Same time next year? #TeamBMT #Seafarers #24PeaksChallenge

Our learning and development expert, Jim Price, along with senior consultant, Andrew Kloska explored how digital training can transform law enforcement capability at GovNet Events - Modernising Criminal Justice 2025 conference last month. As modern #policing is under increasing pressure to respond rapidly to evolving threats, while managing limited resources, they examined how new models of delivery offer personalised and data-driven approaches that can evolve with the learner and the operational environment, through an examination of real examples from UK police services. Our innovative work in this space demonstrates how tailored #training, powered by advanced analytics and scenario-based design, can prepare officers more effectively and efficiently. The presentation is now available and can be accessed via the link in the comments.

At RenewableUKs Global Offshore Wind 2025 last month, two of our #cybersecurity experts, Neil S. and Harvey Bailey presented on the growing cyber vulnerabilities facing #offshorewind farms as they expand and become increasingly critical to national infrastructure. They demonstrated that by implementing Secure-by-Design principles and continuous assurance used in the #defence industry, the unique cyber challenges can be addessed in a cost-effective manner, enhancing energy security and managing growing cyber risks. The presentation is now available and can be accessed via the link in the comments.
