About us

CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. As the founder of environmental reporting, we believe in transparency and the power of data to drive change. Partnering with leaders in enterprise, capital, policy and science, we surface the information needed to enable Earth-positive decisions. We helped more than 24,800 companies and almost 1,000 cities, states and regions disclose their environmental impacts in 2024. Financial institutions with more than a quarter of the world’s institutional assets use CDP data to help inform investment and lending decisions. Aligned with the ISSB’s climate standard, IFRS S2, as its foundational baseline, CDP integrates best-practice reporting standards and frameworks in one place. Our team is truly global, united by our shared desire to build a world where people, planet and profit are truly balanced. Visit cdp.net or follow us @CDP to find out more.

How much are you willing to pay for a chocolate bar? In West Africa – home to 80% of the world’s total cocoa output – cocoa prices have hit record highs due to extreme weather. Companies are already aware of how environmental risk is disrupting how they do business – potentially affecting global supply chains across all sectors. The first step towards resilience is awareness, and by disclosing and measuring their risks, companies are starting to see clearly. Momentum for disclosure remains strong. Environmental data is what the market demands, and businesses are responding, with more companies than ever being asked to disclose on water and forests.   At #WorldWaterWeek 2025, CDP’s Head of Water, Joe Ray, joined the Water in Business session to highlight that while the political narrative around sustainability may be shifting, the environmental and business realities have not changed. Companies continue to view water as financially material, disclosure numbers are rising, and building resilience presents opportunities even in an evolving landscape.  Catch up on the full session by searching Water in Business here: https://lnkd.in/dgZjx34f

〰️ “It’s been a very volatile 12 months since we were last here on stage.” The first Water in Business session began with a frank acknowledgment of dramatic shifts in the global sustainability landscape—from regulatory rollbacks in the US to the EU's evolving sustainability frameworks. 〰️ “Sometimes it can be a bleak picture, but there are opportunities,” – Joe Ray, CDP. The discussion then looked ahead to what these changes mean for corporate water stewardship and how to steer forward despite the headwinds. 〰️ “Our ambition for our water agenda is and will continue to be the same. When the tide is unsure, our boat will continue to be lifted,” – Joana Barata Correia, IKEA. 〰️ “With these headwinds, you have to be really clear about your purpose,” – Louise Ellis, Arup. 〰️ “To keep the conversation going is so valuable,” – Pim van der Male, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands. Over the last decade, hundreds of global financial institutions have put their weight behind CDP’s Non-Disclosure Campaign – directly targeting and engaging companies that have failed to respond to their request to disclose. For them, access to this environmental data isn’t a nice to have. It’s a business necessity. That’s why more than 223 global financial institutions have called on more than 1,300 of the world’s highest-impact companies to disclose through CDP in 2025, seeking the information they need to allocate capital, manage their portfolios and inform strategy. And it works. Companies engaged through CDP’s Non-Disclosure Campaign are 2.5 times more likely to disclose. The demand for robust environmental data is only increasing, and companies are responding. As we pass the midpoint in CDP’s disclosure cycle, more companies than ever have been requested to disclose on water and forests, showing the demand for nature-related data in financial markets continues to rapidly increase. In fact, in Japan more companies started their disclosure on forests and water in the first four weeks than disclosed in total last year. As the climate crisis intensifies, water is a critical way its impacts are experienced and disclosure is essential to uncover risks and empower action.   In this video, Joe Ray, CDP’s Head of Water, explains how disclosure helps companies and investors understand their water risks, build resilience and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow. CDP data shows the impact: companies with consistent water disclosure reduced water withdrawals by up to 74%.   Learn more about #WorldWaterWeek here: https://worldwaterweek.org
