CONSTRUCT is the trade association for those working in the concrete structures industry.

About us

CONSTRUCT exists for the benefit of its members. Formed in 1994, we are acknowledged across the construction industry as a professional and proactive organisation which acts as an interface between member contractors, clients and suppliers, and between other elements of the construction industry with all its stakeholders. As such, membership is open to all those who have an interest in promoting excellence in concrete. We are driven by four priorities: • Improving safety and efficiency • Co-ordinating views and acting in members’ interests • Promoting innovation in the use of concrete • Identifying and addressing best practice and buildability A Council of elected members meets quarterly. Strategy meetings plan ahead and set out targets and objectives, while sub-committees work tirelessly in members’ interests to make that vision into a reality.

  • This morning the CONSTRUCT GF attended the Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions panel discussion on cybersecurity – lots of valuable insights shared by the experts. A few key takeaways that really stood out: ·     Threats are evolving fast; ransomware, supply-chain breaches, and AI-driven attacks are on the rise. ·    People remain the weakest link; phishing and social engineering are still the leading causes of incidents. ·     Shift to zero trust & resilience; the focus is less on building higher walls and more on how quickly we can detect, respond, and recover. ·     Regulation is tightening; stronger governance and proactive compliance are now essential. ·     Leadership & culture matter; cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue, but a board-level business risk. ·     AI is a double-edged sword; helping with defence but also making attackers smarter. The panel left no doubt: effective cybersecurity requires awareness, collaboration, and resilience across every level of the organisation.

  • CONSTRUCT lobbies the Greater London Authority (GLA) regarding concerns about the Building Safety Act and the related delays in planning approvals affecting the construction sector!   The message from the Senior Policy Officer, Housing and Land, acknowledged the concerns raised and confirmed that the Mayor’s office is actively monitoring the implications of the BSA on the construction sector. While the full text of the response has not been made public, the key takeaway is that the Mayor is now aware of the potential risks and challenges the Act poses to the industry, particularly concerning compliance burdens, project viability, and workforce capacity.   A spokesman for CONSTRUCT commented, ‘This recognition is a positive step forward in ensuring that the voices of industry stakeholders are heard at the highest levels of London governance’

What a great day, thank you to Robes Project for allowing us to see first hand the fantastic work they do. Rosie Canty and I thoroughly enjoyed chopping, dicing and slicing so Iain the volunteer chef could cook the wonderful food for the guests.
